In the book of Esther chapter two, tells the story of an orphan girl named Esther, whose uncle raised her as his own daughter. This young orphan was not only beautiful, but she had the presence of the Lord with her. She was chosen as Queen in the place of Vashti.
David kept his father's sheep in the vast fields. He became a very good shepherd, killing a bear and a lion, David was also skillful. God sent Samuel the prophet to anoint one of Jesse's sons to become the next King of Israel. David's Father was sure one of his seven sons, excluding David ( David being the youngest of eight ) would be chosen as the next King of Israel. However, none of the seven sons passed the test. They were all tall and handsome looking, yet God refused them. First Samuel 16:10-12 says, " Again Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel, and Samuel said unto Jesse, the Lord hath not chosen these. (11) 'And Samuel said unto Jesse are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and behold he keepth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, send and fetch him, for we will not sit down till he come hither. (12) And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and withal of a beautiful and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, arise anoint him, for this is he. " Yes David the shepherd boy was chosen by God to be King of Israel.
