A vampire appears in the 1920's.

Jeremiah takes his girlfriend Vanessa to the back room of some warehouse after they went to the movie palace saw Lon Chaney in The Phantom of The Opera. He was greeted by the doorman and allowed to enter. After he put his nose to Vanessa’s neck, he almost coughed at the smell of garlic. The cough even got worse for a second until they sat down. He then looked into the mirror across from his table where they sat and Vanessa herself noticed something a bit strange.
He had no flection in the mirror, it was always this way with him. A fact he always tried to cover up. Jeremiah never wanted anyone to know his secret. The one he kept for so many years, he always tried to avoid mirrors. Above all, he never said anything to anyone about it. People would judge him and think he was abnormal. They were right, but he never let on. If he did, his secret would be exposed and there would be no going back.
'Must be a trick mirror they use in those magic shows.'
While laughing about it, he shrugged it off. That was, until he watched Vanessa look at herself in the same mirror. He noticed the reflection showed her sitting at the table with an empty chair beside her. Jeremiah waited for their drinks to come in, he was glad the rest of the room did not smell of garlic the same way Vanessa’s perfume did. Another thing he found unsettling about her was the crucifix necklace she wore. Those burned his eyes.
    'Something wrong?'
When she asked this, he scrubbed his eyes and hoped she would not catch onto what he hid from her. It was for her own good, no one should be exposed to his secret. Not only would it ruin him, yet it would also ruin Vanessa and those around him. There was too much at stake, even though he was just on a date with a beautiful woman. He often thrived at night, yet was so worn down by the time the sun came up. It was something he could not help.
    'No, it’s alright.'
Looking away from Vanessa and her necklace, he started to look and around the room. This way, he would not have to look at the mirror. Jeremiah was aware Vanessa knew he was strange, yet he had no intention to let her find out how strange he was. It was not something he liked to brag about let people in on. He did not think it was appropriate, it would be inconsiderate to other people. For people perceived themselves as decent and normal to know someone strange was among them.
Jeremiah was startled when the police barge in all of a sudden. Everyone including him and Vanessa stood up to confront them. Some hide behind the bar, yet quite a few are ready to fend off the cops. He was in front and waved his hand to keep everyone in this speakeasy at bay. Jeremiah went over to confront the leading officer and make sure no cops started any trouble on his territory. He smiled at the office to see what he would say.
'Do you have a license for any of this liquor?'
He bent over and then bit the officer on the neck, who screamed at the top of his lungs. The officer dropped to the floor dead, and Jeremiah held his up. His fangs were revealed to the police with blood around his mouth. They pulled their guns out and tried to shoot, yet he dodged them and none of the bullets went in. His secret was now revealed, why Vanessa could not see his reflection in the mirror and why he did not like the garlic small of her perfume or the crucifix on her necklace.
    'Oh my god!' Vanessa screamed.
This man was a vampire and was about take a raid from some mortal cops. He just killed one and the others stood there in silence. Jeremiah wanted them to understand this speakeasy belonged to him and he was not going to put up with their invasion of his property. No matter what kind of lawful intention they may have had. He raised his finger and other vampires went after these cops. The customers here were fellow vampires he knew for hundreds of years.
    'Get ‘em!'
Turning to Vanessa, he noticed she was a bit scared. Jeremiah extended his hand and wanted to her to understand everything would be alright. She was a little nervous and backed away from him. Jeremiah came toward her and held her hands and then kissed her lips. He watched her wipe the blood off them. Vanessa then walked away and tried to escape him in any way she could. Whether it was another door or secret passage out of the speakeasy.
'I’ll take care of you, I promise!'
With a grab of her wrists, he took her and kissed once more. Jeremiah wanted to be with in spite of the carnage in the background. He gave her a certain stare and she now would do anything he asked. It was the hypnotic effects vampires like him had on women for centuries. He seduced many women over the course of his immortality and Vanessa was no different. Jeremiah took her hand and they walked into small private room where he sank his fangs into her neck, making her his for all eternity.
