Having been a Member of the Southern Cherokee Nation located in Webbers Falls Oklahome for a number of years, my people decided I would make a good candidate to serve on the Council.
Now the Nation has a total of eight districts, the Northern District, Southern District,Easten, Western, South Eastern North Eastern, South Western, and North Western.Each District has two Council Members, serving, as Election time approached, I was made aware of this very important event, that would take place in Webbers Falls on Columbus Day weekend, October 9th, 10th, and the 11th of 2009.
I was mailed an application to participate in the Election, now this was a great Honor for me to be selected to fill a position of this magnitude, one that I shall cherish for the rest of my life, thanks to our Chief Gary Ridge, and all of my Brothers and Sisters that voted for me.
I'am sure if my Grandfather James Byers, who is 3/4 Cherokee and a member of the Cherokee Nation back at the turn of the Century knew of this he would be very pleased that I had the opportunity to help our Nation grow, by assisting those who wish to join us.Bryce Gill was also Elected to serve with me on the Northern Dictrict.
