Where do you find it?
I find my beauty in the delicate hue of spring grass
I find my beauty in the salmon-toned stripe separating mountains from plains at sunset
I find my beauty in the pure black mask of a raccoon fishing in a stream
I find my beauty in the lemon yellow breast of the meadowlark singing on a fence post in the middle of nowhere
I find my beauty in the song of the owls at dusk and dawn
I find my beauty in the tracks of deer left in the soft earth as they passed silently across the meadow
I find my beauty in the cool green of a grass snake sunning itself on a back road
I find my beauty in the creepy dog that smiles as he leaps out of a ditch startling the unwary passerby
I find my beauty in the soft fur of my companions each of whom has his or her own sweet smell
I find my beauty in the purring of my tom cat as he nestles under my chin at night and wraps his tail around my wrist
I find my beauty in the new colts finding their legs and bucking and running for no particular reason
I find my beauty in laying on the cooling sand at the ocean's edge, lying back and gazing at the stars as traffic passes high above
I find my beauty in the feel of cotton against my skin
I find my beauty in every kiss I have ever had and every touch that has ever graced this body
I find my beauty in the written and spoken word of countless observers of life
I find my beauty in the photographs that take my breath away
I find my beauty in the spreading fan of a red winged hawk's tail as he glides atop a telephone pole
I find my beauty in the spotted eagles soaring above the plains
I find my beauty in the skin of my lover
I find my beauty in everything that is living
and ever will be
so long as we humans leave it be
to be admired and adored
as something precious
and beautiful for all generations.

| Really, really wonderful. This painted so many glorious pictures in my mind, Lisa. I agree almost completely, except for the dog who dashes out from nowhere to startle the unwitting passerby. In my life that is a daily occurrence. There are no less than 22 black labs in residence on my road, along with assorted Rottweilers, Jack Russels, and dogs of unknown heritage. They seem to think they are responsible to protect the whole, wide world. They come rushing every day, but somehow I never expect them... :) |
