In God We Trust
There are those who have taken prayer out of our schools. They even would like to do away to the pledge of Allegiance because it includes the phrase, ‘Under God.’
This is sad because our nation was built on faith in God. If you walk through the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. you will find plaques everywhere proclaiming our forefathers faith in God.
There are some who have even gone so far as to say we should take, “In God We Trust,” off our money. I ask you, what we would replace it with, “Hail to the almighty Dollar?”
Actually, if they did take “In God We Trust,” off the money it would probably be the best way to honor him. Jesus once said that the love of money was the root of all evil.
Here is my point. When we plaster “In God We Trust" on our money or have it hanging on the back of the courtroom wall behind the judge are we praising God or are we being hypocritical? Do we trust in God? If the answer is yes, then why do we feel that we need so much military might to keep us ahead of the world?
Think about it. God said he would look after us. He promised to be there when we need him but we still have the need to fight wars. Our young men are trained to kill.
There goes one of the Ten Commandments. You know the one that says, “Thou shalt not kill.”
Our democracy can be true to itself as long as we the people and the leaders of we, the people are willing to give, asking for nothing in return. When someone finally figures out how to use this great way of governing for his own selfish purposes the whole thing evaporates in front of us.
All men are created equal. Somewhere along the line equality was lost when money become a replacement for God. Is the man who has more money, more equal than the poor? You really have to look that word equal up. There can not be a more or less equal. Equal is just what it says.
All men have a right to be treated with love and respect, regardless of race, religion or how they comb their hair. The problem with our government in this day and age is that money buys everything and he who has the most has the most power. Our congressmen love those freebees. You know what I mean. Those gifts that are given with no strings attached. Only at one point or another, the large firms who are giving those gifts are going to ask for something and our lawmakers will feel compelled to give it to them. Why? Because, they owe it to them.
The fact is our government would be doing God a service is they got rid of anything that mentions him in any way. Of course we could clean up our act and learn to live as he has always wanted us too. Then when we say, “In God We Trust,” we could really mean it.
