This is a story about believing no matter how impossible the circumstances may seem. As in with my other story, "The Knight In Rusty Armour" I dedicate this story to children with cancer and I enjoin those who will stumble upon it to please donate to your local cancer organizations if you like this story.

It was a lovely spring day and Jasmine was pretending to be a butterfly
She asked her mum who was hanging the clothes, "Mum do butterflies cry?"
Her mum laughed and said "I think they do but I really don't know why.
Why don't you ask your dad and I'm very sure to answer you he will try"

So Jasmine asked her father, and added "Maybe a story you could tell."
"I dont' know if they cry, but they get lonely and that I do know well
And yes my pretty little butterfly for you a nice story I will tell.
This story will touch your heart because it is really quite swell."

The kids all gathered around him and Jane, his wife, joined them too
"They are pretty and they look happy but they can also be lonely it's true
If you watch them you will notice that some are on their own and blue
And so listen well to this story that I am now about to tell you"

There once was a lonely butterfly that was living on his own
Love and a sense of belonging is something he had never known
He had wondered at the happiness other butterflies have shown
He never understood closeness because he had always been alone

In his small heart he felt a strange emotion rising, a sense of longing
Could it be that the sense of belonging is what his soul is wanting?
He was proud and won’t admit that to his life something is lacking
But he can’t go on pretending, inside him the need was growing

In his confusion and sadness he looked for the sweet kind little fairy
His burden was becoming something much more than he can carry
He needed to know what was missing in his life on the prairie
Wanted to know what it was in this life could bring him glory

The kind fairy on him took pity, told him what was missing
Explained that every soul had a half for which he is searching
Someone the soul belongs to, someone caring and loving
The half that would give the butterfly’s existence a true meaning

Hearing this, the butterfly became pensive in his reflections
Is it possible to find someone capable of bringing such emotions?
But he believed and trusted the fairy so he quickly took action
The wheels to start the search were speedily set in motion

The butterfly searched everywhere, searched high and low
Continued on searching in the summer heat, the rain, sleet and snow
To find the lady butterfly that will make love from his heart flow
The lady that he knows has been his even a long time ago

He searched hopeful that he would find his lady soon
He was willing to fly even through a strong typhoon
Bear the heat the of the blistering sun at high noon
And if need be to find her, even fly up to the moon

But the poor butterfly seems to be running out of luck
He feels that soon he is going to run amuck
He was desperate and alcoholic nectars he started to suck
He messed up his life buried himself in deep muck

The fairy who was watching him the whole time took pity
Brought the matter of the butterfly’s woes to the fairy committee
“Heck “said a bad fairy, “Send him to Kansas City with Dorothy”
But the committee outvoted the fairy who was always silly

So they gave the butterfly a clue to help him find her
Gave him the second name of the one, his eternal lover
“Her first name and location is something for you to discover”
And after saying this, the fairy gave him a four leaf clover

So he went on and searched again for his missing half
He told himself that he has to go on, he has to be tough
Got to continue even if things are going really rough
He vowed to go on till he drops, promised he will never say enough

He was determined; he knows he will beat the fates
He will find her because he knows that they are soul mates
Doesn’t matter if he has to pass dangerous straits
But he was surprised to find her in the world created by Bill Gates

But he doesn’t care however far away his lady is
Will fly anywhere for the awaited true love’s kiss
He searched hard and this chance he didn’t want to miss
To be with his lady and live a life of pure bliss

But there was another butterfly there with her
Did he take too long? Is this why this had to occur?
But she belongs to him and that is what matters
The presence of another won’t make his dreams shatter

He sought the help of the kind fairy once more
Kneeled implored and begged her like before
He cried,” All the hardships of finding her I bore”
“Give me back the only lady butterfly that I love and adore”

But alas, the fairy was helpless this time around
In this kind of matter her hands are bound
But she had an idea that seems really sound
“Talk to the man who with thorns was crowned”

And so the butterfly went on his way to find this man
He knows in his heart that if there is anyone to help he is the one
He that they call the almighty father’s only begotten son
He has a hand in what everyone calls the divine plan

So he sought for him everywhere, asked everyone about him
But his whereabouts seem so elusive, his location so dim
Chances of ever finding him was really becoming so slim
The butterfly’s future was becoming really dark and grim

The butterfly was getting hopeless and he started crying
“Life is unfair, fate is too much! What’s the use of even trying?
It will be better to just stop and lie down, a lot better to be dying
I had believed with my whole being, without any misgiving”

Suddenly he heard someone talking, the voice was loud it was booming
A blue gold cross was rising, the man nailed to it speaking
The man was wearing a crown of thorns and he was saying
“Butterfly go to her, your prayer is answered because of believing”

"If you believe that you were created for each other
Then surely you believe that you will be together
You will have her and in your love shower her
Remember the promise you made to each other"

And suddenly the cloud in the butterfly’s mind lifted
He remembered the past and as his gaze shifted
He saw his lady and remembered how they were created
His spirit soared he was truly elated

Our butterfly is a lonely butterfly no more
He has the woman he will love forevermore
Now he is sure of what life has in store
True love will last forever and that’s the real score

Now he knows that in the grand scheme of things all will be right
He doesn’t really have to struggle and put up a fight
Love will always shine, for them there will always be light
And their future together will always be bright
