ACT FOUR


The Lost Art Of Love


The year 2130, human forms survive in the brightness without knowing darkness exists. Increments control life’s seven intervals known as a hebdomad pack. Fifty-two hebdomad packs advance the numerical symbols of the Lineage Extraction Anniversary.

Through the course of evaluation, mortal awakening is computer controlled. The male and female forms have not been adversely modified. With one exception, sexual senses with emotions no longer exist.

The infinite quantity of cubicles are brightly illuminated and spread out through the massive atemporal. Two forms are together that were awakened 2100. Both excelled in their multifaceted complex testing and became proficient in the creative computer explorations. Neither cared that their numbers were in sequence. 2100,234,002 (female) and 2100,234,003 (male) bonded during many secret meeting intervals.


ACT FOUR


CUT TO:

EXT: UNLIT REGION – SIXTH INTERVAL

Moments later Mary and John remain standing like statues of their past, searching for the future.

JOHN
I’m not sure how, but we are still
standing.

MARY
I cannot move. It feels like we are
bonded together

JOHN
You know the harder I try the firmer
the control is.

MARY
We must be captured!

JOHN
My guess is we have been re-captured.
Somehow, this must be our punishment.

MARY
It could be the ultimate sin for
leaving the culture of our cubicle.

JOHN
The pain comes only when I try to move.

Mary is now in a panic mode not wanting to accept the reality of going back into the light.

MARY
John I told you we should have gone
back.

John tried to comfort Mary and began to explain the culture of the Leader.


JOHN
Try to relax Mary, this cannot be
the method used by the Leader.

MARY
What makes you so sure?

JOHN
Do you know the identity of the
Leader?

MARY
It is a computer.

JOHN
Have you heard the phrase Master
Cipher?

MARY
He is the giver of life and death.

JOHN
Well almost, our emergence is known
as the Lineage Extraction Process.

MARY
You mean a computer is the Leader?

JOHN
Correct.

MARY
Now I am concerned.

JOHN
You know a computer-modeling program
stimulates each brain and controls
arrival.

Both began to exchange their knowledge of the society they departed. This conversation was a way to take their thoughts off the conditions that held them bonded as a unit.

MARY
I knew that.

JOHN
De-tuning the basic form of the
human needs like family and
physical compassion are a part of
every profile created.

MARY
How did you learn this part?

JOHN
I ran across an encrypted database.

MARY
You never shared this information.

JOHN
I waited until we were free of the
Leaders control.

MARY
You mean there is more. Are we really
free?

JOHN
This modern futuristic society
mandates and controls all activities
including interactions of each form.

MARY
What does all that mean seeing we
might be out of the loop of the
Leader?

JOHN
Based on the master computer model
each intellectual skill is measured.
All of the notable genders are
separately maintained.

MARY
That explains part of it, but why?

JOHN
Every extraction is indexed according
to their grouping.

MARY
You mean we are alike?

JOHN
Sort of, everyone is programmed in
a way that their human rights are
considered identical. The desire to
battle from within is removed.

Mary became concerned her program never allowed the knowledge John acquired.

MARY
Are we alike or is there something
else going on I do not understand?

JOHN
Let me ask you, what can be more
important to life?

MARY
I want to live with you. Are you
saying it was never a part of my
programming?

JOHN
Correct.

MARY
How can that be? The Leader would
never allow that. Oh no don’t tell
me you corrupted our innermost program.

JOHN
Sort of.

MARY
Explain, I do not have a good feeling
where this is going.

JOHN
For any of this to work our fundamental
activities required to become one true
spirit?

MARY
You modified me? How did you accomplish
such a task?

John realized that explaining the alterations he made did not make her calm.


JOHN
Let us try relaxing and see what
happens next.

MARY
You are avoiding the question.

JOHN
Do you love me?

MARY
Sure I do.

Without warning, a new motion sensation took hold. Both bodies began moving without any force or cause.

MARY
John, why are we moving?

JOHN
I don’t know.

MARY
What is happening to us John?

JOHN
Try to relax dear.

MARY
You called me dear, how sweet.

JOHN
At least we have not been captured
by the Wring Force.

MARY
If that is so, why am I feeling
cold?

Both continued struggling trying to get free from the force holding them secure.

JOHN
It will be all right Mary, try to
calm down.

MARY
I am getting weak and tired.


JOHN
So am I, you’ll see this will work
out.

Falling into a mode of hibernation, as the bluish light kept scanning moving closer to their location. Sleep covered their conscious mind as perspiration ran through their glowing features.

CUT TO:


INT. BRIGHT OFFICE COMPLEX – END OF THE SEVENTH INTERVAL

In the bright modern complex, the Cube Supervisor e-mailed his renovation team the following urgent message.

CUBE SUPERVISOR
Update the following cubes; X100,001,
Y200,005 plus the corner one XXX200,
YYY001. Replace their computers.
They must be destroyed based on the
detected worm virus.

Two WORKERS dressed in green uniforms with bold black capital letters on only their backs [W1 and W2]. They were pushing air carts loaded with new equipment for the first cubical transformation.

WORKER ONE
I guess they will never learn.

WORKER TWO
It looks like working on this Master
Plan is never ending.

WORKER ONE
The amount of forms we lose means
nothing compared to the millions
surviving in our euphoric state.

WORKER TWO
Why would anyone want to leave
this pleasant environment?

WORKER ONE
We offer the only true form of
happiness.

WORKER TWO
I know, but a few try every 52
hebdomad packs to find another
documented life.

WORKER ONE
What drives these poor souls?

WORKER TWO
It appears that there always remain
a few innumerable outcasts.

WORKER ONE
This keeps us busy.

Both workers worked more like programmed machines striping every panel plus the equipment was replaced with upgraded computers.

WORKER TWO
You know we have to finish cube Y200,
005 before the increments are over.

WORKER ONE
You had to bring it up, we never have
time to play those video amusements.

WORKER TWO
You know we have superior assignments.

WORKER ONE
Those pretentious cubicles are our
responsibility. We never get our
increment to relax.

WORKER TWO
Right, you know the elite XXX200,
YYY001 is also on the list.

WORKER ONE
I heard 2100,234,003 and 2100,234,002
were programmed with an undetected
virus.

WORKER TWO
They vanished on their 1,560th Lineage
Extraction Anniversary.

WORKER ONE
I wonder what happened to the Virus
Committee on this one?

WORKER TWO
There were investigating a rash of
violations. I guess these two
integers slipped between their rounds.

WORKER ONE
What was odd, I heard they were
extracted within the same increment.
Their advanced programming allowed
them to break into a series of virus
codes.

WORKER TWO
Impossible the Leader would never
allow two random genders to alter
their software. They were grouped
based on their intellectual skills.

WORKER ONE
What I understand coming from a
common source the probability of
two forms meeting and having their
Lineage Extraction Delivery in
sequence is rare.

WORKER TWO
Yet it happened.

WORKER ONE
This should never have occurred.
Especially in our modern setting,
but it did.

WORKER TWO
How do you learn all this?

WORKER ONE
The recycle bin is worth reviewing.

WORKER TWO
Well I’ll be! Just another bright
light in paradise.


CUT TO:


EXT. PORCH OF BUILDING – MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 2005

Everything appeared normal as a loud speaker broke the silence. Two elderly parents, voices MALE and FEMALE were concerned about the activities of their daughter Mary.

MALE VOICE
(shouted)
John, Mary, where are you? You better
come in, it’s dark out there. Before
you know it, it will be Monday morning.

FEMALE VOICE
You know living in L. A. has not been
easy on these two.

MALE VOICE
One of these days, they are going to
get themselves into trouble.

FEMALE VOICE
I know, but learning to face reality
is not always as easy as it sounds.

MALE VOICE
I kept telling you dear, this couple
would end up in some king trouble.

FEMALE VOICE
You might be right, but our daughter
loves John.

MALE VOICE
Sometimes there is more to life then
lust.

FEMALE VOICE
How can you say that?

MALE VOICE
This younger generation does not
understand the true meaning of the
art of love. It is all lost spending
time with computers and video games.

FEMALE VOICE
Don’t be so hard on them, we were
young once and made mistakes.

MALE VOICE
True, but we are happy and still
together.

FEMALE VOICE
Mary and John are committed to
their relationship and what can
more important then love?

MALE VOICE
If you say so.

CUT TO:


EXT. DARK OPEN SPACE – MONDAY 2005

John and Mary never heard the loud speaker as they waited within their loving extinguished darkness. For some unknown reason both were free and normal. Remembering the struggle of coming from their cubical remained lodged in the consciousness. They had made the transition into 2005 without knowing it.

JOHN
It appears that we will be wandering
through life accepting changes of the
body.

MARY
Are you saying our bodies will
gradually die? Was this worth our
risk?

JOHN
Living a slow death means we are
alive and well. We accepted the fact
that it could never be programmed.

MARY
So this is the ultimate happiness in
human form.

JOHN
Right.

MARY
You mean we have escaped our future
computer control life?

JOHN
Yes, don’t it feel great?

MARY
You know we will both lose our mental
dexterity in happiness.

JOHN
Not true , life is our future.

MARY
Do you feel free?

JOHN
Yes happiness has become our ever
lasting destiny. Without freedom we
would remain spirited in the computer
generated society.

MARY
You are something.

JOHN
Knowing we have finally discovered
the lost art of love has true value.

MARY
In other words, darkness is a part of
our future?

JOHN
Yes, can’t you feel it?

MARY
Has anyone ever been privileged to
recognize it?

JOHN
We are it.

MARY
Why can’t we see or meet anyone else?

JOHN
Accepting life requires living with
the experience of uncertainty,
including wandering and struggling
in order to survive.

MARY
I do feel living in L.A. has created
happiness.

JOHN
This is a part of our new life. With
it, the only true example is existence.

MARY
We have our love that will allow us
to grow and accept the human
fragilities of mankind.

As the dusk of Monday morning arrived, the voices of their past ceased to be heard. A new force intervened on their behalf. The yellow ember light went out as their bodies began spinning. Simple objects could be seen through the bluish embers reaching deep into their soul as the feeling of immortality penetrated their simple bodies.

Gradually fading and slowly dissolving into the night. You could barely make out two happy dancing fireflies searching for a new beginning.
