If you Believe You Can Conceive; Therefore it is Achieved!
Today is Martin Luther King's Holiday. I wanted to let the children and adults know that his Dream is still alive and Living.. The short story I'm about to tell you is based on true events that,I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Sandy was a Middle school student who was an A student during her 3 years of Middle school. She had always dreamed of becoming an attorney to help peolpe with the injustices in society. One day in her last year of middle school, the unthinkable happened. Sandy was molested and violated by her uncle, which, non of her family members knew about. As time progressed on, her family members noticed a change in Sandy's behavior, and thought she was just going through an adolescent stage. As time continued to pass, Sandy's mom noticed a difference in her daughter 's weight. Her face was more rounder and she began to wear over-sized shirts to camouflage her growing stomach. When Sandy's mom found out about the pregnancy, Sandy was already 101/2 weeks pregnant and 6 months from graduation. The entire family was devastated about this situation. NowSandy thinks, that since she is pregnant, all of her dreams of becoming an attorney has now been shattered.
With the support of family members and friends, Sandy was able to continue her educational goals. Finally the day came when gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and named her Genesis.Sandy graduated from midddle school and on to High School to start a new chapter in life along with her dream and a new baby facing all odds set against her. Sandy did receive therapy from a counselor and therapist to heal her mental and physical scars of her past, so she will be able to give unconditional love and trust to her daughter. Preservance and Tenacity are the key components Sandy demonstrated to overcome her unhappy obstacles that were thrown her way. Sandy had a college counselor as her mentor through her high school years to give her moral . I'm proud to say that Sandy graduated from a prestigious four year college and is now in her 4th year in medical school. She no longer wants to be an attorney. Sandy wants to become a Doctor of Psychiatryto heal the scars and wounds of other young girls to help them rise above all, when the odds are set againist them. Rember: 5% of what happens to you is based on 95% of how you respond to it.

Thanks for sharing Sandy's story. I'm so glad she was blessed with such a wonderful supportive family. Nothing is mentioned regarding the uncle. I hope he has been held accountable in some way.
