Looking back on my son's first year
Holden’s First Birthday!
Let’s Celebrate!!!
Can you believe Holden is turning one? My, how the year flew by! As I looked over Holden’s “First Year” calendar, I thought that I would share a few of our special memories with you;
I’m sure you all remember Holden’s early arrival on September 15th, last year; we now laugh over our “6-pound preemie”. Holden came home from the hospital October 5th, toting his heart monitor beside him. It seemed so obvious that Holden already knew how much we all loved him; especially his big sister, Kaitlyn. We were able to say good-bye to the heart monitor early in November and resume newborn normalcy (is that an oxy-moron?).
Holden got FIVE teeth in the month of April…needless to say, that caught us completely off guard!
By May, Holden was sitting up by himself and ROLLING anywhere and everywhere. By June, he had learned to “dance” to music, which was so sweet to watch. Once July came around, we noticed that Holden was pulling himself up to stand and standing completely alone; in fact, if we tried to help him, he would get very frustrated. He could stand forever in the middle of the room and just look around. We could tell he was proud of himself based on his gloating facial expressions. Mid July found Holden fully mobile, able to crawl everywhere and get into everything. Oh how I miss the days of him lying peacefully on his blanket on the floor…so does our kitty cat! In August, Holden decided to get brave and take a few steps…I do mean a few! He is still quite happy braving a couple of steps, but crawls everywhere at record speed! “Good-Bye freedom, Hello baby gate”!
Here it is September…Holden is such a happy and content baby that it has made having him all the more enjoyable. We tell ourselves everyday how blessed we are. Holden has touched our lives in ways we never imagined; he has painted our world with colors we didn’t even know existed and has shown us love on a level we had no idea we could reach.
