Nathan Lake has recovered from his jaw surgery as well as the swine flu.

I am sick myself; not with swine flu, but a touch of a cold. Felt pretty bad earlier today (even threw up once), but I am feeling much better now, thank goodness. Have been spending a lot of time in bed today. Say a prayer for me, that I get over this bug! Thanks in advance! :)

Also pray that the wx doesn't get as bad as they say it might: we might even have an isolated tor (tornado); I hope not: Karla and I are "severe'ed out"!

Oct. 28, 2009~

Dear Journal~

An update from me, Nathan Lake.  I am happy to say that I have recovered from my jaw surgery as well as the swine flu; I am to my old self again.  Never felt better!  :)

The kids have not been teasing me by calling me "Porky Pig", which is a huge relief on my mind.  I needn't have worried.  LOL  They just say, "Good to see you, Nathan; you're starting to look good!", which makes me feel like a million bucks.

Nobody else in my family got the swine flu, which was a miracle.  Only me.  There have been a lot of absences at school, though:  the flu hit 'em like a ton of bricks.  Some did great; others not so much.  Even had two kids die as a result, ages 14 and 16.  One was the captain of our football team; the other, one of the cheerleaders.  Their deaths were a shock to us; still can't believe that they're gone!

We are getting ready to celebrate Hallowe'en.  I am going to a Hallowe'en party on Saturday with some friends; I am dressing up as the Hunchback of Notre Dame (typecasting, I suppose?  He had an ugly mug!  LOL).

We may stop by the Harvest Festival at Christ Community Assembly of God church; don't know yet, but hey:  free candy and food, in addition to some great southern gospel music by some of the best that southern gospel music has to offer...yes, that sounds like it would be a lot of fun!! :)

Well, I know this is short, but I'm getting ready to eat some grub; we're having pork chops, scalloped potatoes, three bean salad,  and for dessert, peach cobbler.  Yum!  Take care, and may God bless you always!

~Love, your friend, Nathan Lake.  :)

My goodness, Karen, you make that peach cobbler sound sooo good! You have a way of bringing me right into the lives of the people you create... Assuming that you create the people of your stories. Hey, come to think of it, the pork chops sound pretty good, too.
Your friend in Southern California, Mark
