Phaedra Rose McEntire here.
I am so excited: okay, pumped: tomorrow night is the Hallowe'en bash to end all Hallowe'en bashes.
I am going as Cleopatra, queen of the Nile. My best friend, Caz (Charlene) Tyndale, is going as a cheetah. It's going to be great!
We have been planning this Hallowe'en party for months it seems (like back in July, perhaps? LOL); now the time is nearly here!
Today my folks and I are going to get some pumpkins; we will then make jack-o-lanterns out of them. Hallowe'en has always been very big at our house, especially since we have little kids as part of our family. We want to make Hallowe'en special for my little brothers, so we let it all hang out.
This party I will be going to tomorrow will be held at the high school. They'll have live (dead) entertainment (music provided by "Skeleton Zone", actually members of our high school band who love to jam on the side; they're pretty good!), appropriate scenery, food that ghouls and ghosts, as well as witches and warlocks, will "die for", and of course, COSTUMES!!!!
Last year we had a party, and it sucked, especially when creepy Milton P. Erickssen puked in the punch. That ended the party with a quickness; we were not happy. We treated him like a pariah after that.
Maybe it's a good thing I moved away from Boston? Don't have to deal with the Pukemeister (Milton) anymore; he was freaky with a capital "F"!! :)
I am sure that ma will take the boys out for tricks-and-treats; she's off work. Pa, meanwhile, has to work; no night off for him. He isn't worried; he says maybe it will be slow. Somehow he thinks it will be; seems that Hallowe'en isn't really a popular night to go out to eat because everyone's in party mode; they're more concerned about partying or getting a lot in the way of treats!
Yesterday, my friend Johnnie called; she was in tears. She said she was going to be a supercell (a kind of storm cloud), but her dog kept trying to eat her costume; tore a big hole in the cloud. Now she has to think of something else at the last minute; she says all the best costumes are gone; everything is picked over.
I told her not to worry; she has a brain; I am sure she can come up with something clever. Like the supercell cloud thing. Now, I ask you: how many people would have thought of something like that?? That's the kind of person Johnnie is: she's extremely bright for her age!
Johnnie wants to be a meteorologist when she starts attending college. Her uncle is a meteorologist for a TV station in Miami; he was the one who got her interested in "all things weather".
I told Johnnie she could go dressed up as a tornado. Wear all black, get some bendable wire, wrap it around her, and drape grey and black netting around it, and she thinks that's a good idea. Her tears dried up instantly. So there may be a "tornado warning" at our local high school when Johnnie Lynn Williams "blows" into town! LOL
After the party is over, we can concentrate on Thanksgiving. Maybe I will see some of my relatives from Boston. I hope so, because I miss them very much. Especially my cousin Roz. She's cool; I'd always looked up to her, ever since I was a little girl. Roz thought up of the best games, and she told the best jokes, some of which were pretty dirty. (That's what she got for having three older brothers who were in their teens. LOL)
I haven't heard from Roz in several years; I hope she's okay! (I think about her from time to time. Oh, okay, every chance I get! LOL She was like the big sister I never had!)
Well, I am getting ready to go: soon it will be pumpkin' pickin' time! Yay!! I love this; it's a huge tradition in our family: get the biggest, fattest, roundest, orangiest pumpkin ever and turn it into a work of art! :) (We have the best jack-o-lanterns in my opinion! :) ) Take care, and I will write in here again soon! Have fun tomorrow night, stay safe, and one more thing: BOO!!! Happy Hallowe'en early!!
~Love, your friend in Florida, Phaedra Rose. :)
