1. Horace the Not So Itsy Bitsy Spider
Horace, the not so itsy bitsy spider
got caught on a flower stalk
he hangs there legs dangling, all day
waiting for the sun to go away
when it is dusk Horace jumps off the flower stalk
he dances, he prances and wiggles a lot
out comes the moon to light his way
Horace the spider scampers after prey
a bug gets caught on his fang
and a mosquito bites him
the not so itsy bitsy spider, runs away
he hides under a bush
then snake slithers by
Horace the spider holds very still
snake leaves a trail
so Horace follows it
back to the meadow with the flower stalk
Horace watches as snake gobbles a mouse
then Horace the not so itsy bitsy spider
climbs up the flower stalk!
2. Horace short story adventure (in progress)
One day Horace the spider awoke on his flower stalk to bright sunlight. He stretched his muscles and noticed a lilting note on the air. Horace was so surprised, he fell off the flower stalk. More of the melody drifted to Horace. He bent his legs and flexed them in time to the music as he moseyed down the pebble strewn dirt path towards the cabin. Horace usually only ventured this way when the family that inhabited the cabin made pizza. There were always spare crumbs on the floor with homemade pizza.
The music drifted lazily, growing louder with each step Horace took. Horace the spider was litterally march dancing along his way, and waving his front legs in time to the music when they left the ground.
Horace reaches the door of the cabin and stealthily climbs over the door jam. Cassie and Marissa the family's two pre-teen daughters are in the kitchen washing the breakfast dishes , bee bopping and swaying to the beat. While giggling and singing in spurts, they clamorously finish their chore. The music instantly disappears.
Horace stays under the table watching the girls. Cassie hangs her dish towel on the oven door as Marissa closes the cabinet door.
"Do you want to go for a swim?" Asks Cassie. "That's a great idea, race you to the shore!" Exclaims Marissa. Horace watches unblinking as the girls trip over each other on their way to their room. Horace ventures out from his hiding place into the open wondering how he is going to get onto the counter to the metal box that had been eminating the beautiful sounds. All at once Cassie dashes into the kitchen and grabs the metal box. Horace was caught unawares so deep in thought was he but, luckily Cassies missed him. Horace turns in time to see Cassie race out the door clothed in a red bathing suit, towel over her shoulders, metal box in hand. Marissa almost catches her as they clamor out the door. Horace the spider scampers after them.
Down the path he goes once again. This time Horace has spider cadence as he walks the path to the shore. Horace can hear the metal box's eminations drifting on the wind. Horace the spider cautiously leaves the path and enters the grassy area where the metal box is perched against a rock. He first checks on the girls. Cassie and Marissa are wading ankle deep into the lake , bent over and looking at something within the water. Cassie reaches down and brings something up in her hand. She and Marissa are smiling as they admire their treasure. So Horace then scales the rock to sunbathe while the girls play. The music from the box vibrates Horace's skin and hairs.
Horace jumps as a shadow crosses him. He looks up. It is an eagle flying over him. The girls stop what they are doing to look upon this magnificent creature.
***This is the beginning, it usually takes me a few years to polish so I'll keep adding to this one maybe, any ideas on the title?**
