Ray of Sunshine
A story taken from the book, "The Voices Within Us" by Jim Stewart
This story is about Ray and Alice Pineda.
Alice was diagnosed with stage four uterine cancer (Rating of 1-4, 4 is worse). Alice was scheduled for major cancer surgery. She and her husband,Ray, were very scared about the procedure. The doctors told them that the surgery was going to take about 7 to 8 hours.
There was an open window in Alice's hospital room; it was cloudy outside. They both started to pray for her surgery to be successful, when the clouds outside opened up, allowing a ray of sunlight came through the window. The light shown only on Alice. When they were through praying the clouds closed up. All at once their fears went away. Alice looked at Ray and said, "Everything is going to be okay." What a contrast to the way they felt moments earlier. The doctor then came in and reminded Ray that the surgery was going to take 7 to 8 hours. Then the nurses came in and wheeled Alice to the operating room.
An hour later, while Ray was in the waiting room, the doctor came down the hall calling for him. Ray said the hall was only fifteen feet long, but it seemed like it was a mile. Expecting the worse (it had only been an hour) Ray approached the doctor as the he was shaking his head, confirming in Ray's mind that something had gone wrong. When the doctor spoke to Ray, he said, "Ray we don't know what happened. We've never seen this before." Ray weas even thinking worse thoughts now. The doctor then looked at Ray and said, " When we opened her up, there was no cancer."
The power of prayer. Sometimes your prayers are answered immediately and sometimes it takes a while. When your prayers are answered, don't forget to thank God.
