Who's that at the door now?

Big Brown Eyes
By Jim Stewart

One Saturday afternoon I decided that I was going to just kick back and relax. I got myself a big glass of tea and tuned on the television. As I sat back in my recliner, Ding Dong, the doorbell rang. So up I get to answer the door. "Sir, would you be interested in subscribing to the newspaper?" I told hi that I already subscribed and sent him on his way. I headed back to the recliner. Ding Dong, the doorbell rang. So I got up and headed to the door. "Sir, could I interest you in some siding?" I told him no and sent him on his way. Back to the confines of my den and recliner. Ding Dong, Not again. Who could this be. "Sir, Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?' Well I made my purchase and headed back to the recliner with some cookies in hand. I ain't answering that blasted door again. No, I'm not going to do it! Ding Dong, dad burn it! Who is it this time? Sir, Would you like your lawn mowed? I told him no and sent him on his way. Feeling a little hot under the collar and mad at the door bell. I started thinking about ripping that bugger of the wall. Then, Ding Dong, This is it, feeling hotter than a chile pepper I stompoed to the front door. AS I open the door I say in a loud tone of voice, "What the hell do you want?" I didn't see anybody. Then I looked down. All I say were two big brown eyes starring at me. It was my little 3 year old neighbor friend. She looked up at me and said, "Jim, could you help me. My sister fell off her bike and hurt herself. My Momie wanted you to come take a look." How could I say no.

This little 3 year old is now 13.

There is nothing like putting it all in perspective.

In our busy life..we cherish the moment of quite.
Only a child can show us the quite needs filled. This is a cute writing and I pictured the scene easily.
