History never tells the whole story. Many have answers. Some have questions. Thus, an allegory of sorts follows.

Hummingbird at 30,000 Ft.

Flying at 30,000 feet

Hummingbirds don't peer in from the outside

But

Why so bitter

Says It, the hummingbird

I look at my mini bottle

Sniff it again look back

Hummingbird gone

Thank God

Says I

Hummingbird back

You're welcome

Says It

I crane my neck in panic

Push the attendant button

Yes sir

Bird

Pardon sir

Bird out the window

Attendant looks

I don't see anything but clouds, sir

I look back

She's right

Guess I need a nap

Says I

Care for a pillow

Says She

And so it went

Heathrow to New York

Until it didn't

My nap was short

I slowly took a peek

Yup

Hovering outside the window

Shoo

Say I

The bird backs away

Then flies at me

Again with the levitating

What?

Says I

You were damning yourself, remember?

Says It

I pull the shade

Turn

Close eyes

Wait

No peeking

Peace

Until

Pecking at the window

Lift shade

Okay

Says I

You have my attention

Go on

Says It

Go on where?

About your doubts

Why are you so damn obnoxious?

Says I

No answer

Look, it's like this

Says I

I look around

Passenger expressions say

I should be locked up

I look at the hummingbird

By the way

Says I

How come I'm the only one that can see you?

You're the only one needing to keep it together

Says It

So, smart one, why me?

Says I

Trying to keep it together?

Says It

Yeah

Says I

Maybe you sense something no one else does

I shrug

Nonsense

Says I

I'm just an average everyday guy flyin' to New York

Are you sure?

Says It

Over the intercom, the captain speaks

If you look out your window

You can see Lockerbie Scotland below

Quite a site

Very beautiful

Enjoy

I look

The hummingbird is gone

And that's it? asks the doctor

I open my eyes

Yeah

Just a dream, says the doctor

I slept through my alarm that morning, doc

How come me?

Why me missing the flight?

Questions only fool us with answers, Charles

Says He

Like the hummingbird?

Like the hummingbird
