(dedicated to young folks moving out for the first time)
Sara had just finished packing for college. She was SO anxious to be out of this small town and on her own. She gave her mom and dad a hug and kiss goodbye and got in the car with her room mate Jenny.
Together the two drove out of the town they'd grown up together in, and now graduated from. In a hour they would be in the big city. No cares, no worries...and no idea of what was to come.
They reached the dorm safe enough. It was a tall older building. One of the few origional buildings left on the campus. They each grabbed a suitcase and walked to the desk where they got their key and were told, since it was a old building that they would be carring them up 3 flights of stairs.
This didn't sit to well with them, but, after much debate, they accepted this, and even sweet talked the clerk into helping them carry some of the heavier stuff.
Now comes the room. It wasnt that it was particularly BAD...but they were having trouble finding anything GOOD about it :/. They did manage to get everything into the room. The bunk beds that the school provided had drawers which some of their clothes fit in and the rest either went in the closet or stayed in the boxes.
OK the next step was food. They unpacked the bag Sara's mom had sent and then realized they'd stacked everything around the fridge. So a half hour and a backache later the food was put away. During this they found that the dorm fridge also is their tv stand if for no other reson its blocking the only cable outlet. So they carefully balance the tv on top and set that up.
They finally get ready to eat when they discover the microwave is missing. So back downstairs to find out its still in the car and the clerk is gone. Ok...back up again...
Now its late and both are tired and sore from lifting and wondering why they ever gave up the comforts of home.
