December 6, 2008 was the launch of .CLAN., a new novel
set in the Borders of Scotland which spans 700 years from the
13th century right up to the present day. But this is not simply a
work of history, it is a tale of supernatural plots and intrigue that
encompasses both historical and current themes as Good and Evil
vie for power in the modern World.
David Elliot, an executive in the IT industry took a year out
to write the book. Three years later, his first novel .CLAN. is
published and is now on sale. The story is told from the perspective
of the author, who at fifty seven years of age, frustrated, out of
work and with three failed marriages behind him embarks on a trip
to the borders of Scotland to try through his ancestry to find some
validation of his life.
It is based primarily around Hermitage Castle, allegedly one
of the most haunted sites in Britain and features many of the heroes
of Scottish history including William Wallace (.Braveheart.), Robert
the Bruce and some lesser known, but equally real and interesting
characters of border legend.
According to Elliot, .My research into my family
name revealed a fascinating history which encompassed
the greats of Scottish history. But when I discovered
other real people like William de Soulis who
conspired to kill Robert the Bruce, and the fact that he
practiced wizardry, allegedly sacrificed children and is
.apparently. boiled to death in lead from his own castle
roof - then even a man in his late 50.s working in the
IT industry can be driven to give it all up to write a
book!.
Accompanied by his daughter, son-in-law and
his beloved grandson, Thomas, Elliot finds that far from
bringing answers via his bloodline his very name has
led his family into unbelievable danger.
700 years of history threaten everything he holds
dearest in life and the family encounter horrors and
threats as myth and the real history of the .The Bloodiest
Valley in Britain. combine.
Border Reivers, mythical creatures and heroes
of Scottish history enter the story as the evil Lord William
de Soulis embarks on his vile plot to assume
power of an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands
against him . a family desperately trying to protect a
child.
Their only weapon is their love of family. the
power of their .Clan..
