13 Years Later
Today is 13 years my dog Reny passed away and it seems like it was yesterday. She lived to be 14 years old and that is a long life for a big dog she has half collie/ half shepperd. She used to be a junkyard dog and she was not afraid of anything or anyone.Reny first came to me on February 4th 1994 the year of my divorce,my ex-wife called me and told me the house where was staying was being sold and Reny had no place to go except the animal shelter and at 9 years old she would have been put down so reluctantly I agreed to take her for one year and it lasted almost 5 years. She became my best friend who was always by my side she never let anyone come near me unless I said it was alright.Reny didn't legally belong too me and after 3 years I told my ex-wife I was moving back to Las Vegas but after 4 months I made plans to come back to New Jersey. But that wasn't easy my former landlady told me if I wanted my old aprtment back I could but not with Reny.I searched high and low for a place that took pets and I was being turned down almost every place I called until one day I found a place that accepted pets and the landlady I asked has a good heart and she never complained about Reny so in late 1997 Rich and Reny were back together she was older and slower but in January of 1999 she could no longer walk normally she needed cordazone shots but the final month of her life I had to carry her up and down the stairs to take her out in the yard to do her business and put a bathroom towel around her stomach to hold her up so she could position herself. It was very sad seeing this but the next month she had a seziure and I rushed her to the hospital and was told Reny had liver cancer and had to be put to sleep. The vet and he told my ex-wife and I we could be with Reny until the end and she was constantly looking at me before the vet came in and gave her the final injections and she died in my arms.As long as I live I will never forget or stop loving Reny and where I am at now in Florida with friends they have two dogs who follow me all over they are loveable and good dogs but since Reny I don't think I will ever get another dog of my own Reny is in heaven and it's been said that God tends the animals and she is in supreme hands;Your gone 13 years now Reny and I still miss you:Love Daddy
