What we (mankind) considers important is not always what God considers important. Read this article and find out what one of the most important functions of an armorbearer is...
Standing in the Way And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land. —Ezekiel 22:30aWe have an awesome privilege and responsibility as God’s intercessors to pray. Have you considered how different our lives would be if we did not pray. The good that would be held back, the evil that would prevail is not something I want to examine for long. Let’s turn our hearts to those that are helped, the plans of the enemy that are thwarted and God’s will accomplished as we pray.A description of an intercessor is one called to take the place of another, to stand in the gap, or as a local pastor said, "Stand in the way." She says an evil spirit said to her as she interceded for her Senior Pastor’s wife, "She’s in the way, I can’t get to her husband because she’s always praying for him." Yes, God called us to be in the way of the enemy’s plan for our leader’s demise. As we pray, we are often able to stop the plans of the enemy or at least scatter his efforts. God somehow multiplies the odds when we pray for our leaders. Remember, one will put a thousand to flight and two will make ten thousand flee. In operating as an armorbearer one must develop the characteristics of an intercessor. As a part of the divine call to minister in helps, comes a divine call to intercede for our leaders.3 Allow the Holy Spirit to develop in you the heart of intercession. As an intercessor, one must possess:
- Willingness. The intercessor must be willing to pray when the Holy Spirit asks.
- Obedience. God’s intercessors will be faithful to follow through on the promptings to pray for our leaders.
- Confidentiality. Can God trust you with the inner chambers of His house (the Church)? He may show you confidential things to pray about your leader. One operating in the true spirit of armorbearing can be trusted to pray for his leader in confidential matters.
- Perseverance. Do you pray until you get a release to stop? Do not give up on God’s leader; He is not through with her or him either. Pray until the victory comes! The Holy Spirit is faithful to let you know.
I heard like new God’s call to intercession as I wrote this article. I examined my life as I encouraged you to search yours to see if you were standing in the way for your leader. My willingness and obedience was checked. I looked to see if I had given up on my prayer assignments. Are you involved in intercession for your leader? Good! Do not let our Father God have to look beyond you to find a faithful intercessor for your leader.
