Having a hard time understanding and accepting my present work situation.

Have you ever been in a situation you simply abhor? The first thing that comes to mind is why did God put me in that situation. I did not want to teach middle school nor did I want to travel an hour to get to work everyday. I have been pretty stressed because I prefer to be working at a school closer to home. The last thing I wanted to do was to go back to teaching middle school. I taught middle school for 15 years and taught high school for 9. I left middle school because I could no longer deal with the emotional ups and downs of these students.
I am trying very hard to keep a positive attitude, boy it is really hard. I am now teaching 4 middle school French classes and 2 high school. Everyday I ask God "what do you want me to gain from this experience?" I have yet to figure out what it is he is trying to teach me. I have to keep my heart open and tender, but it is sure hard .
My school district placed me in 6-12 school even though I made it clear I wanted to only teach high school. Everyday is a new day, I am still pondering on " OK GOD, WHY?

Dear Nicole. How this brings back poignant memories. I taught middle school for fifteen years before going on to high school. My first two years in middle school were a prolonged nightmare. But then, I started to "put on masks," to "act" and to use my sense of humor. It was okay then. When I went to teach high school, I thought I'd gone to heaven. I empathize with your situation. I've never had to communte for more than ten minutes or so to the schools where I taught; I strongly dislike traffic. I hope and pray that your situation may be rectified to your satisfaction. Love, peace, et bon courage,
Regis |
