How often do you find yourself being labeled? You are not good enough for this or that, you are stupid, you are not my type.
I got inspired to write this article because, too often people want to put you in a box and define who you are. I am not one to stand by and let others get away. with putting a label on me. Last year I lost my teaching position to a less qualified teacher because my principal is not smart enough to see reality.
I think it is very important to be aware of this type of situation. How do you keep yourself from being a victim? I simply ignore people who do those type of labeling, more often than not these people are dealing with their own self-inadequacy. It is easy for them to judge others because that is how they feel about themselves deep inside.
Next time someone tries to define you, take a moment ask yourself why? Take a deep breath! walk away with a smile and know that you are special in your own way no matter what . That is what I do. No need to get upset.

|worse yet are the people whom follow what another labels them
conformity never fit well with me that is for sure
not even inside my own family...I cannot imagine it even for anyone
people have their judgments & labels but f the shoe does not fit there is no need to wear it that is for sure
I also highly agree with you that people like this are dealing with their own inadequacies or something like it.
I love what Richard said too "Let the "definers" and name-callers go cultivate their own back forty." :)

|A wonderful piece of advice that would well serve our youth of America as they try to find their own voice in this world.
Why struggle to write your own song and then let someone else who doesn't have your background or experiences or emotions or feelings assign a title to what you have worked so hard to create? You are who you are and what you do. Let the "definers" and name-callers go cultivate their own back forty.
Good ol' common sense that we too often let sit on the shelf. Good work, Nicole!
