Mara "Freckles" Sturm and Orson "Orry" Madigan were swimmers from a young age, both adventurous when they met the first time on that Whidbey Island beach, freediving together in the cold Rosario Strait 30 feet to get kelp floats, cutting them at the holdfasts so she could make dolls. He was 9, she was 7. Advance 46 years - two older lovers, neither having memory of their first meeting, discover that they were both competitive swimmers and SCUBA fans. They now feel a familiarity neither can quite grasp - "You remind me of.......but that is not possible." Both being strong physical swimmers added a dimension to their romantic pursuits, having strong desires for each other. But their ability to breathhold freedive and SCUBA dive will play into the next of the series. They will transform into environmental "superheroes" with a marine research vessel called M.V. Mara Lynn, a 240' catamarran hulled ship with a diving well and crew of scientists. Their guardian angel Gabe will have his hands full keeping them out of trouble and on the straight and narrow to their various crusades for Planet Earth. The challenges in book 1 prepare the 'hillbilly' couple to face the evils in the following volumes.
