Heck...here in America, I even have the freedom to criticize our own U.S. Congress. So much so, that I wrote several critical articles about the Congress, and posted them on my writing site for all the world to see...

Background: I was born and still reside in a sleepy one-horse town of Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a population of about 500,000...including the horse. And yes...we do have electricity, running water and indoor facilities here! For those of you around the world, who may not be familiar with Albuquerque, I'll try to put it on the map for you.
The state of New Mexico is located in the southwestern part of the United States...and located to the east...our good neighbor is the state of Texas; our good neighbor to the north...the state of Colorado; and located to the west...the state of Arizona; and located to the south; the country of Mexico. Albuquerque is centrally located in the center of the state, with I-40 and I-25 intersecting in Albuquerque.
Albuquerque is home to the world-famous International Hot-Air Balloon Fiesta, and for those of you who may have interest, can go to the following link;

Up Up and Away! (A Feast For the Eyes)
Art Show Experience; (Color My World)
As a woodcarver for over 30 years, I have participated in over 40 arts and crafts shows all over the state of New Mexico. I also sold my work in shops and galleries.
Confidence/courage; The arts and crafts shows gave me the confidence and courage, to put up my website, to show the people around the world what I can do;
Website name; humordoctormd
Humor and creativity just seem to go together
Idea; Later, I decided to promote the art/craft shows myself, and I founded and was director of the Fiesta of Arts and Crafts (Art in the Park).
The Fiesta was held outdoors at the beautiful Haynes Park Center, in the first week of October, which cooincided with the International Hot-Air Balloon Fiesta, which holds their show on the same week-end. Imagine this if you can...the art show was held in a beautiful part; with pine and cottonwood trees in abundance; with the Sandia Mountians in the background, which rise to a height of 10, 600 feet above sea level; over 100 colorful displays in the park; with the hot-air balloons dotting the sky high above the park area...what a sight!
Idea; After I retired from woodcarving, I took up writing. I must be crazy!
Writing; When I was 43 years of age, I knew I wanted to write in my elder years, so I completed three writing courses; the Writers Digest Course; the National Writers Club course; and a creative writing course at the University of New Mexico. And, in the year 2012, I want to grow up to become a writer.
Confidence/courage; Completing the writing courses, gave me the confidence/courage, to post my articles on an article directory and later on a writing site.
EzineArticles; (article directory)
Articles Published Page; Over 100 articles (to date) have been published on more than 500 websites on the Internet.
Idea; Hospitalized: It was in 2001, that I was hospitalized for over 3 1/2 months at the VA Medical Center. I, obviously, had plenty of time on my hands, and it was at this time, that I came up with the idea to put on a writing/graphics show for the public. But, what would the show consist of, and how would I make it work?
For over 30 years, I was in the colorful world of art and craft...and now in the field of writing...BORING...a black word on a white page! How was I going to dress up writing to make it colorful and interesting? At the time, I had no idea!
A dream come true ! One day, I was in a local Hobby Lobby, getting a few supplies for my work. I happened to walk down the paper isle...which was loaded with colorful specialty papers of all types. I had never looked closly at these papers, so I decided to spend a little time looking at the samples of papers. To my joy, as soon as I picked up one sample of paper...the firecrackers in my head, in the form of ideas, started popping in my head!
I knew right away, that I had found myself in the candy store, and the longer I stayed in the store...the more I know my dream could come true ...the family display show that I first conceived when I was in the hospital. There were dozens or hundreds of papers on display in that section, and I was going to look at them all. Colorful specialty papers suce as in football; basketball; smilies; bricks; balloons; grass; clouds; pencils; candy corn; sea shells; popcorn; soccer; Halloween; jungle; space; rock n' roll; hearts; snowflakes and many, many more!
These specialty papers were reasonably priced at 29 cents a piece and 59 cents a piece. I knew right away that this find, could do it for me...that the show could now become a reality! I was excited at that prospect! I bought about 30 specialty papers that day, and got started on the show right away.
Over the next year, I put together the 72 items needed for the show. The show consists of two displays, sitting on top of two four-foot tables. Each display contains 36 items for a total of 72 items in the show, which is entitled;
Along the Bumpy Road of Life
(Family display show)
Ladies and Gentlemen...start your engines...it's time
for the rubber to hit the road...the bumpy road of life!
Let's face it...everyone in the world travels down the bumpy road of life, because we all have to survive; to make ends meet; and to take care of any obstacle that comes our way such as illness or injury, etc.
Everyone is the construction business as well...constructing our lives, and building our resumes for the future! Building materials include; determination; sacrifice; perservience; discipline; and a wheelbarrow full of perspiration!
What is one of the best ways to learn? From others, right? Learn from their experiences...both good and bad; learn from their education; wisdom; skills, talents, and most of all...from their IDEAS! And, that's what this show is about...IDEAS!

WORK IN PROGRESS...
April 3, 2012
Display #1: Decorated in the Red, White and Blue;
Display #2; Decotated in the traffic colors of orange; yellow; black and white;
Is life passing you by? One day you're 25 years old, and you're feeling your oats...and the next day you're 65 years old and headed for the Old Folks Home...where has the time gone? FAMILY DISPLAY SHOW: (How the show works)
The display show consists of two four-foot tables, and displayed are 72 items of photos; anecdotes; graphics; various text on specialty papers, etc. The show is FREE to non-profit/charitable organizations, etc. All items displayed are standard 8.5" X 11" in size and the text used is 28 to 40 font for easy reading.
The display show, is a combination of three shows; the display show itself; my website, which is over 100 colorful pages; and my writing site (Authors Den) 280+ articles. People attending the display show can pick up a business card, and then follow the links to the other two.
...I have not had my first show, yet...but the displays and the contents are already finished, and everything is beyond my expectations. I think the public is really going to enjoy this show. If my website and my writing site are any indictation...I think that to be true . The invitations for the show will go out soon...hopefully in October of 2011. The first of anything is always the hard one...the one's that follow, should be easier, etc.
Art/Craft Show Participation;
I knew after I left the store, that my idea for the show could now happen, with the selection of all these specialty papers. I was so excited that this could now be a possiblity!
Website name: humordoctormd; over 100 colorful pages; Humor and creativity just seem to go together
EzineArticles.com; (article directory/98 articles;
Authors Den; (writing site/280+ articles);
SOS! My Serious and Silly Articles; All my articles are llisted on this page and are categorized with links, etc.
Articles published page; Since I started writing seriously at the end of 2006, over 100 of my articles have been published on more than 500 websites on the Internet.
The display show is just a small part of what I do. It's just a summary for the public. My website is over 100 pages; my writing site here at Authors Den has about 280+ articles and then my directory has 98 articles, etc. When somebody visits the show...they look at the displayed items...and if they have further interest, they pick up a business card, which are readily available, and go to my website and writing site to continue to explore, etc. So, the display show, is a joint effort of my display show; my website; and my writing site. Between the three of them, it should keep any person busy for hours or even days,,,much to see, etc.
WHAT THE PUBLIC WILL SEE; What is one of the best ways to learn? From others, right? Learn from their experiences...both good and bad; their wisdom; education; skills and talents; and primarily...from their ideas, etc.
Page composition ideas; captioned graphics; white space use; color balance ideas; taking chances with ideas; titles; articles; poems; the use of humor; Who says there isn't anything FREE anymore?
- Young people and students can come to a clean website and get ideas for their school work...FREE!
- Business people can come to a clean site, and get ideas to grow their business...FREE!
- Anyone can come to a clean site to get ideas for their projects around the home and work place...FREE!
TWO DISPLAYS; (on two four foot tables)
1) One display (36 items) is in the traffic colors for the bumpy road of life; orange; yellow; black and white;
2) The second display (36 items) is in the Red, White and Blue, because this is, primarily, a show on ideas and creativity...and, there is no better reason for having a show like this because it is freedom and the Red, White and Blue which has allowed all of us to express our own ideas and creativity...and this display show, is how I intend to express myself...and the Red, White and Blue allows me to do this.
- SALES: There will be no sales of any kind on my part, etc. Business cards will be available...at the option of the visitor.
- COST; The display show is FREE for charitable/non-profit organizations.
- WHERE I WILL NOT SHOW; churches; religious organizations; political rallies; political organizations; controversial groups such as abortion; smoking, hate groups, alchohol-related businesses, porn of any kind, etc.
- I will show only a few times a year, and will be done on a first come, first serve basis. No exceptions;
- I will require a letter of permission from the organization (on organization stationary) giving me permission to be on the grounds in the first place. Without this letter, I will not show up.
SHOW LENGTH; I will show for only one day.
SHOW PLACE; I will only show in the greater Albuquerque area and Rio Rancho.
- No changes will be made to the displayed items, as all are family-oriented. If there is a problem with anything displayed in the show, or I will not agree to show in the first place. In other words...the organization signs up for the show 'as is' or don't sign up for it. I can't cater to everyone's little special needs or desires, etc.
NOTE: I've been online for ten years now, and my website is ten years old...amazing! During that time, I've never learned how to scan a photo or anything onto my website, etc. Scanning is the next thing I have to learn, to get all these photos and incredible speciality papers onto my writing site here at Authors Den. I feel confident, that nobody will sign up for the show, unless they see what they're getting.
That means all this material (72 items) has to be scanned in, sized and arranged. This is where the reader comes in. If you have any tips you can offer me to do this, I would appreciate it. I'm finishing up a book on scanning, but I don't know if that will make me a rocket scientist in scanning or not...only a little more time will tell.
What is one of the best ways to learn? From others, right? They've been there...they've done that, right? If interested, I can place a link in a prominent place back to your writing site...at the top of this page someplace.
