As far as I'm concerned, anyone molesting a child, deserves a special place in HELL...nevermind jail. The situation unfolding at Penn State is a horror story of the worst kind. For what? Football wins?

Football is just a game, but some people treat it like it's the only game in town, especially at the expense of young children.

I live in a sleepy little one-horse town in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Penn State has been one of the best teams I would follow over the years.  I remember, the best game I ever saw Penn State play, was in the 1980's against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl for the National Championship!  It was an incredible defensive game by Penn State, that earned them the National Championship.

Two of my heros in sports over the years, have been Joe Paterno, and John Wooden, the head basketball coach of U.C.L.A.  But, no more!  Joe Paterno and Penn State have now disgraced themselves over something so trivial like football!  To cover-up molesting children is a disgrace, and it was the right thing to do, to remove Joe Paterno's statute, because it sent the wrong message to the public, especially young people.  This is America, and we hold our leaders to a higher standard, than Penn State has exhibited.

SHAME ON YOU, PENN STATE!!!

How can anyone, put football, which is just a game...over mosesting children, and covering it up for their own benefit.  The leaders at Penn State, including Joe Paterno did it for may years!

The following editorial, was written and published in the Albuquerque Journal, and Published on July, 23, 2012.  The headline reads as follows;

"Penn State Sanctions Send Tough Message"

The editorial reads...

"Some things are just more important than winning football games.

On Monday (July 22, 2012), the NCAA recognized that by throwing the book at Penn State University and its one-vaunted football program in response to the rapes of boys over several years by former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky and the alleged cover-up by school officials, including the late coach Joe Paterno.

Gone are 14 years of Paterno's victories, meaning he no longer holds the all-time win record; 20 football scholarships a season for four years; and the university's cut of the Big Ten conference's shared bowl revenue...an estimated $13 million over four charitable organizations in the Big Ten communities dedicated to the protection of children."

Additional penalties; A $60 million fine roughly equivalent to a year of gross revenue from the football program; five years' probation and no bowl games for four years; Penn State adopts recommendations in an independent investigation that found Paterno and other top Penn State officials stayed quiet for years about accusations against Sandusky, who was...sometimes in the football team locker room.

"One of the grave dangers stemming from our love of sports is the sports themselves can become too big to fail and too big to even challenge," NCAA President Mark Emmert said.  "The result can be an erosion of academic values that are replaced by hero worship and winning at all costs."

The punishment sends a message that the big business model of collegent atheltics should be scaled back.  Universities nationwide should heed that message."

END OF EDITORIAL;

Words cannot describe what a horror story this is.  I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which is about 2,000 miles from Penn State...and I can smell the stench from out here!
