Author's Note:
My daughter and I attended a ladies retreat with friends from church. Our study was on women of the Bible. For one of the activities, each lady selected an envelope and had others guess who they were portraying. I wrote my story and tried to keep them guessing until the end. I enjoyed sharing with them, so I wanted to share with all of you, too.
I hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas and a safe and blessed New Year!
I learned from an early age the importance of God and family. I loved hearing the stories from the Old Testament and like most of you, had heroes of deep faith, commitment and dedication.
As a young lady, I knew God wanted to use me; I just was not sure to what degree. As I grew, I built lasting friendships with my family and learned many things from them.
I shared a strong relationship with my cousin. She taught me many things about my role as a woman of faith.
It was one day while in earnest prayer and reflection that I saw a vision. At first, I thought I was seeing things, but then I learned that something remarkable was about to happen. "Fear not," the angelic host told me. As I listened to the message that would change my life for all eternity, my heart was so full of praise, that I could hardly keep the exciting news to myself.
As time passed, I watched my precious baby grow from a child into a man. He was always a loving son. I knew God had a specific plan for His life, so once my son reached adulthood, I stepped back and gave Him the freedom to do the will of God.
I saw my son touch lives in more ways than I'd ever imagine. Many people loved Him. He always drew large crowds, but some hated Him.
The most agonizing day of my life came as I watched my son die on a cross.
Through my tears, as I looked into His eyes, I knew this was part of God's plan. Yes, God could have saved my son and kept Him from all the pain and suffering, but God saw a bigger picture. My salvation along with thousands of others was bought that day.
