Just Like Mom

Dedicated to my Mom.

Just Like Mom

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
  (Proverbs 31: 25-30 KJV)

Many times when I visit my mom, who is now living at a nursing home, I'll hear people say, "you look just like your mother." That makes me smile. Although it's nice to know that others see the physical resemblance, it is my hope that they can say the same about her inner beauty. It is her godly influence and inner strength that I admire so much. I wish I was more like her. Her faith is just as strong today as it was in days long ago. The legacy she'll leave behind is greater than any inheritance. She has done as the scripture says, Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 1
Now that I'm a mom, too, I am happy to have instilled the same faith in my own daughter's life and strive to continue to be an example as my mom.
     Thanks Mom. Happy Mother's Day.
