SSRI's aren't the only option when it comes to treating SAD.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (commonly referred to as SAD) is a form of recurrent depression that generally strikes in the colder winter months. Seasonal Affective Disorder is traditionally treated with anti-depressants known as selective serotonin uptake inhibitors (SSRI's). These types of drugs have been shown to be less effective with Seasonal Affective Disorder than with more generalized forms of depression, and can often have serious side effects.
