The truth is, technology has almost run into a stand still. With the maximization of the microchip, and all the employees busying their brains at the next big break, no smart people are stopping to think about making things, better and cheaper.
Take brakes on an everyday automobile. Why in the world did hydraulic fluid last this long? We shouldn’t see hydraulic fluid anymore! Why are you going to waste all that space to have to have an empty tube running the full length of the car so that fluid can run through it from the master cylinder and apply pressure on brake pads? As SOON as electricity was invented and the electric motor, manufacturing should have made the switch to electric braking. Ther would be no fluids or leaks to worry about, and the weight would be highly reduced; Not to mention manufacturing costs! You know why theydidn’t opt for electric braking? Because that would raise too many questions in the consumer. If the brakes can be run on electricity, why not the whole car?! That wouldn’t go over well with GM and other corporate honchos.
Yes, there will be those old car tycoons out there who will argue this to the grave. They will say hydraulic is much safer, because if the power goes out, you can’t stop! But the same is arguble about a leak in the hydraulic line! If they would have just focused more on what works than what makes the most money, our planet would be in a lot better shape! Besides one hydraulic line for an ebrake is way cheaper than a whole mess of them!
Please comment and offer arguments.
Also, braking would be totally unneccesary in electric motor drivin cars anyhow because the throttle would serve dual purposes.
