New musical instruments #1:
THE NUCLEAR POWERED STEAM ORGAN/Calliope
by Joel Sattler
Build a steam organ a thousand feet tall, powered by the steam exhaust of a nuclear power plant.
People would be able to hear it from miles away.
The resultant sound would be so powerful and shrill, the organist would have to sit in a sound proof booth to play the organ.
Otherwise, his ears would burst and his face would melt.
Also, anyone within a quarter-mile of the organ would have to wear ear protectors.
Roll over, Sebastian. Dig these whistles and hoots!
