I watch in silent applause as you squeeze your way through that tiny opening. Every fibre of my body urging you on as you wriggle, push, and squirm, fraction by nano fraction; twisting this way and that. I feel the bruising, the scratches even, as you ignore the injuries you suffer in your urgent quest for entry into this new and what has to be scary domain. It crosses my mind briefly that perhaps you don't really want to enter, that some primeval instinct is urging you on. First your head and then no not a leg, fold them behind but no here two legs show. My heart beats fast, I am sure that you can't possibly survive this painful slow torture but with determination unlimited suddenly you are through. All in one piece you have arrived.
What a world awaits you.Your eyes gaze knowingly in every direction. My God have you been here before?
I find my feet and tiptoe tentatively towards you, reluctant now but mesmerized too. I draw close. You are small but so exquisite in your entirety, in who you are. All ofyou, perfect in proportion in design. I lift my foot, one more time .....and bring it down hard to squash you flat. I hate spiders.
