End of year stuff

Professor Penwose, in his never-ending quest for stuff, is now presenting his yearend gibberish.

Good Evening…I would first like to say that this may seem a bit early, as the year has not ended yet, but it really doesn’t matter unless I put a daily date on it, which I’m not going to do for reasons I will divulge.

A writer can gain a lot of time by not dating his/her work other than by the year. For instance if I were to omit the month and day, and change some of the wording, I could get credit for writing this piece earlier in the year with no one being the wiser.

Likewise, only different, if I wrote this early next year the publication time could be assumed as any day of that year with one limitation. Days that have not come to pass cannot be considered. June is far into the future, however once it goes by, that month and all others before it, can be possibilities.

Time in theory or actuality really does not matter. We like to think that control of time is a human factor. We set time zones and even establish a time where we can “save daylight.” In reality time does not exist. It is something we invented. In the universe there is no time.

We have yet to establish time zones on other planets, even the one’s in our own solar system. This may seem nugatory, but think about it, if we were ever to venture to one of these planets, we would not know what time it was.

You're absolutely right, the universe does not pay any attention to time.

A couple of days ago, I watched an unknown movie called, "Astronaut," that suffered only a C rating from viewers. While the only actor was riding a spaceship of very confined space, being whipped around Venus on its way to being whipped again around Earth and on to Europa, the astronaut in question was consumed with his daily sleep allotment, calorie allotment, exercise allotment, and time. Exactly what time he was following, I don't know. But he did have a single digital readout for it. Interesting, since it took him four years to go to Venus and get back to Earth.
