Book Review "Seize the Book: Believable Characters: Creating with Enneagrams"

At last, I know why my sisters always say I live in romance novel zone. I do! I’m a type four, a Romantic, with a type five, Observer, wing. Discovering Ms. Schnebly’s book didn’t just lead me to better understand myself though. More importantly, she turned my approach to character development inside out. Literally. But, it didn’t hurt a bit. Previously, I built my stories from the character up, analyzing the persons’ whisperings in my brain from the outside in. Who were they? What was their history, their basic archetype, their fatal flaw? And, most of all, how did all of those things effect their present conflict?

Now, thanks to understanding enneagrams, I can start from the inner character’s personality type, core fatal flaw in hand, and work my way outward. I can see now how they handled that past based on personality rather than vice versa. You see, we all have a bit of each within us, so after reading this entertaining book, we can personally relate to each. Better understood character motivation makes for a stronger story foundation....
