Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn ....... before it be grown up. Psalm 59:16,17

But -- I will sing of Your power;

Yes, -- I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning:

For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of trouble.

To You, -- O my Strength, I will sing praises,

Isaiah 33:6

And wisdom -- and knowledge shall be the -- stability of thy times, -- and strength of salvation:  the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

wisdom - The power of true and right discernment. -- A high degree of knowledge; learning.  (The Book of Proverbs in The Old Testament)

knowledge - information or understanding acquired.  ..... learning.  .... practical ability and skill.

stability - being stable.


Isaiah 33:16

He shall dwell on high; -- his place of defence -- shall be the munition of rocks:  bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

high - heights, or high places


Isaiah 33:2

O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee:  -- be thou their arm every morning, -- our salvation also in the time of trouble.

LORD - Elohim

arm - upper limb of the human body. -- equip.  -- To supply with the necessary means.


Exodus 5:4,22

Verse 4

And the king of Egypt said unto them, wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works?  get you unto your burdens.

burdens - Exodus 1:11

Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens.  And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.


Exodus 5:22

And Moses returned unto the LORD, -- and said, -- LORD, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people?  Why is it that thou hast sent me?


Isaiah 31:4,5

For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, -- "Like" as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, -- when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, -- he will not be afraid of their voice, -- nor abase himself for the noise -- of them:  -- so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, -- and for the hill thereof.

"Like" -- Hosea 11:10

They shall walk after the LORD:  he shall roar like a lion:  when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

noise - Or, multitude

hill - lower than a mountain. -- uphill and down.  -- Cross-country.


Isaiah 31:5

As birds flying, -- so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; -- defending also he will deliver it; -- and passing over he will preserve it.


Exodus 19:10-13

Verse 10

And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, -- all that make "sluices" and ponds for fish.

purposes - foundations

sluices - Any artifical channel for conducting water

for - of living things


Exodus 19:11-13

Verse 11

Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, -- the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharoah is become brutish:  how say ye unto Pharaoh, -- I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

Verse 12

Where are they? -- where are thy wise men? -- and let them tell thee now, -- and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

Verse 13

The princes of Zoan are become fools, -- the princes of Noph are deceived; -- they have also seduced Egypt, -- and even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.


Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:  -- because thou hast rejected knowledge, -- I will also reject thee, (you may read the entire scripture in your spare time)


2 Kings 19:34,23,26

Verse 34

For I will defend this city to savf it, for mine own sake, and for my servant sake David's sake.

Verse 23

"By" thy messengers -- thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast saith, with the multitude of my chariots I am come up -- to the height of the mountains, -- to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down -- the tall cedar trees thereof; -- and the choice fir trees thereof; -- and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.

I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of "besieged" places.
