11-03-02 Crying Over Jerusalem Sunday School Bible Reading

 

Read the newspaper and search the paper and look at the tragedies, etc.

 

Parable? How can this lesson be compared to us today?

Psalm 137

Verse 1

By the rivers of Babylon there we sat down, yea, we wept when we remembered Zion.

 

Verse 2

"We" hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

"We" - Upon the willows in the midst thereof We hanged up our harps

 

Verse 3

For there that they "carried" us "away" captive required of us "a" song; ande they that "Wasted" us required of us mirth, saying, us one of the songs of Zion.

"carried" - led

"away" - (away)

"a" - songs

"a" - the words of a song

"wasted" - laid us on a harp

"wasted" - Psalm 79:1

O, GOD, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

 

Verse 4

How shall we sing the LORD's song in a "strange" land?

 

"strange" - land of a stranager?

Verse 5

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

 

Verse 6

"If" I do not remember thee, let my "tongue" cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above "my" chief joy.

"If" - Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, If I remember thee not

"tongue" - Isaiah 13:16 (Read this scripture in your spare time)

"children" - infants

"dashed" - Psalm 137:9

Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

"to" - in

"my" - the head of my joy

 

Verse 7

Remember, O LORD, "the" children of Edom, "in" the day of Jerusalem; who said it, "Rase" it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

"the" - against the

"Rase" - make bare ( plain, unadorned, bald, without clothes or covering, fully revealed)

 

Verse 8

O daughter of Babylon, "who" art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, "that" rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.

 

"who" - that art

"who" - Isaiah 13:16

THE burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.,

"destroyed" - wasted

"that" - that recompenseth unto the thy deade which thou didst to us.

"that" - Jeremiah 50:15,29

Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vegenance upon her: as she hath done, do unto her.

Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

 

Verse 9

Happy shall he be, that taketh and "dasheth" thy little ones against "the" "stones."

"dasheth" - Isaiah 13:16 (Read this scripture in your spare time)

"children" - infants

"to" - in

"stones" - rock
