A brief write-up on Authorhouse Vs Lulu.com
Self publishing is really hard work and I'm not even talking of recouping my investment yet. I prefer Authorhouse to Lulu because they're more experienced and with wider reach. So they're responsible for making the book available to online retailers, mine is to promote and keep it out there. I'm trying my best but it's easier that I don't have a full time job.
Authorhouse publishes children's books too and you are the one who pays for it. That is why they're not bothered to read it before accepting to go ahead. They do not pay you, you make money when you sell the books. When you are ready, you send them the electronic copy, that is what they work with. And it has to be the complete manuscript.

| Myne, My sweetie and I self publish too. Between us we've put together 6 books using Createspace and are super happy with them. We do all our own editing, proof reading and set up and we have a guy who desingns our covers for us who is very reasonably priced. We purchase the "PRO" plan for $39.00 from Createspace, for which they supply the ISBN and list the books on their site as well as Borders, Barnes & Noble, Amazon and other book stores. We are tickled with the individule book prices (usually under $3.00 each, but my last book was 270 pages and cost $4.08 each) We put numerous photo's in the books, but only in grayscale, not in color. Oh and there is no minimum purchase..... we can purchase one book or a thousand.... it's all the same price. So for less than $75.00 we have the cover designed the ISBN, printing and the book listed on the biggest online book stores, as well as a beautiful cover and individule book prices that are very reasonable. We've very pleased.... Dick |
