A letter to Denmark and Norway
By Safi Abdi
Last edited: Sunday, March 09, 2008
Posted: Saturday, January 28, 2006

It has recently come to my attention that some natives of these two civilized nations had taken upon themselves to insult the name of a Servant of God. A believer it hurts me to be exposed to such inconsiderate uncultured malice against a holy person whose only fault was that he was chosen by God to lead humanity from darkness into light.

I spent a sleepless night last night as I tried to knock some sense into these wayward individuals and I hope, by the Grace of the All-Mighty Lord, they will see the light and rethink their stratagem. I want them to know that the fjords and mountains of Norway and the flatlands of Denmark and everything they contain are a speck in the Hand of the Lord. And that messing with the Lord and poking fun at his Messengers is a serious matter. And falls outside man-made stipulations and self-serving expressions. I hope for the sake of their own health and peace of mind and soul that they will apologize to the Muslims and repent to their Lord.

My first reaction to this most disrespectful diabolical abuse against a man who is not here to defend himself would be: Go to hell, you ignorant fools. You’ve no business badmouthing My beloved Prophet in this way.

On retrospection, the person of Muhammad, peace be upon him, deserves more than that. He is too important to be taken lightly. Before I jump the gun, I first have to know who I am talking to. What kind of relationship do these empty heads have with Muhammad? Or God? Or any other prophet of God, for that matter? What’s their status? Believers? Atheists?  Ignorant Fools? Or just diehard blasphemers?

Muhammad is beyond reach. No amount of badmouthing will taint his holy personality. God is sufficient for Him. The tricky part here is that whoever did this heinous crime has only succeeded in hurting my feelings and the feelings of the many believers who populate this planet; that definitely being the goal of the mischief makers.

So what do I do? Pay the perpetrators back in kind by drawing cartoons of what they hold most dear? The good question is what would such people hold dear? Their God? Their prophets? Musa? Isa? Ibrahim? That itself is a big question since I can’t be sure of what they hold dear. But then again isn’t their God my God, too? Should they believe in any prophet, wouldn’t that prophet be my prophet, too? I am a Muslim, you must understand, I believe in Allah, in His Angels, in His Messengers, in His Books, so how could I mock any of that I hold dear?

Unlike people of other faiths, there isn’t a single prophet of God that I don’t believe in. I believe in all and respect them all. So my hand is tied. I just don’t have the liberty to poke fun at a prophet of God, so what do I do?

Remember, I am a follower of the last Messenger of God, I am an example to the rest of humanity. I am one who knows Muhammad, I can’t talk to someone who doesn’t know him in the same fashion I would talk to one who knows him. So, even though I am sufficiently motivated to strike back, have lost some much needed sleep tonight as I try to formulate my thoughts, the more I think through the matter the more convinced I become that what I need the most in this trying moment, is to employ reason and wisdom. That’s what my prophet would do. Patience is indeed a blessing from Allah. So I keep my emotions under wraps and pray to God to guide the erring.

That is what God would want me to do. That’s what Muhammad did in the face of aggression. He remained patient, throughout; replaced hatred with love, hard-heartedness with compassion, aggression with peace, and darkness with light.

Muhammad was not like you and me. He was a prophet of God. He was not only a Messenger, he was also a wise leader and a teacher, and a student of God. And by Allah, did he have a most Perfect Teacher!

So even though I am seething with anger, I do not want to deprive Muhammad’s assailants the goodness of this most radiant Personality. Muhammad is not just my prophet, he is a Messenger to the whole world. And his Message a Message to all the worlds until the Last Day. This is the Truth, and anyone who evades it will be doing so at his own loss.

Unlike previous revelations that came before him, like that of Isa son of Mariam, Musa, and the many prophets before them (peace be upon them all), Muhammad’s message is intact word for word, in its original language, pure Arabic, and it’s by the Grace of God, that it’s accessible to everyone, layman and ruler, student and teacher, ignorant and scholar, Priest and Rabai. So if you have an iota of wisdom, are able to think independently and are honest in your love for your Maker, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t pick up this book and see for yourself in all honest what we Muslims have been saying the past 1400 plus years.

A Muslim, I am a firm believer in the beauty of the human nature and intellect. Because God created man, man must be good in his essence. That’s why I am taking this opportunity to air my grievances and give the devil-influenced attackers and the uninformed alike, a golden chance to rethink their approach. If greatness of character and decency had form they would personify Muhammad. Once someone asked Mother Aisha, a mother of the believers, to describe Muhammad, her answer was: He is a walking Qur’an. Yes, Muhammad was indeed a walking Qur’an, for he not only gave good news, he spread light, truth, mercy, love, compassion, wisdom, justice, knowledge, he internalized these sublime qualities and himself became one with the Message of Light.

So I say to you, O you who are ignorant of this man and this Prophet of God, pray for Knowledge.

And do bear with me when I tell you that, mildly put, what you have done leaves much to be desired. This is a blasphemy and an abominable act, one that’s punishable by the Divine, i.e. if the doer does not repent and ask his Lord for forgiveness. Our Lord is not only a forgiving Lord, He is most merciful, most lenient with man, had He been not so, I very much doubt there would remain a single sinner on the face of this earth. But God does not use our standards and limited judgments. Nor does He switch off the sun or withhold blessings from the sinner. He gives without condition to all, irrespective of their relationship with Him. He gives respite to all and the sinner is given plenty of time to repent. How perfect our Lord is! Indeed how Magnanimous!

But since Muhammad’s detractors have yet to consider the significance of their earthly life, have yet to ponder the darkness of a world without God’s Light, and have certainly not employed common sense before they made fools of themselves, I invite them all to get a glimpse into the person of a fine human being whose life is an inspiration, a guiding light, a perfect model; whose only mission in life was to rescue man from his selfish self, so as to unite the made with the Maker.

Needless to say, anyone who fights Muhammad is fighting a losing battle. Muhammad is high above anything anyone can say, placed as he is on a plane lofty and sublime, where evil never shall touch him, nor slander, nor defamation ruffle his holy person.

While he walked on earth, a humble servant of God, Muhammad’s pure teachings were met with fury, derision and blind opposition. The Elite of Mecca were not about coming down from their high horses. They had slaves to do their bidding, poor women at their beck and call, and idols to satisfy their hunger for delusions; thanks to the Idols a booming Tourism and Trade flourished, which the greedy clang to with desperate determination.

So when Muhammad gave the good news of a single God, and said those they worshipped were but simple stones and rocks, the haves of that time turned violent. When he told them, Stop killing your daughters, they became even more arrogant. When he said, There is no difference between you and your slaves, they said: Have you gone mad, Muhammad? Aren’t we the Chiefs of Mecca? When he said: Justice, please, Justice, they said: we’ve had enough of you, Muhammad.  When he read out the brilliant Verses of the Holy Revelation, they clapped to drown out God’s words. The hitherto respectable man whom they dubbed Al-Amin, the Trustworthy, and who had lived among them for forty good years had suddenly become a Liar. True to form, they erupted into character assassinations, used the day’s Media to their advantage and disseminated misinformation. They called Al-Amin, a Liar, Deceived,  Sorcerer, Soothsayer, Mad, and a Fabricator; they laid in wait at the corners of Mecca unsuspecting folks coming to town from outlying places so as to frighten people away from the pure Teachings of Islam. Lying, deception, half-truths, these became mighty tools under their unscrupulous disposal.

What transpired then is in fact, in terms of malice and plain opposition, no different from what this gentle servant of God has to endure even today. Lying and Arrogance are games that are as old as Satan himself.

But God was on his side, Muhammad did not choose himself, he was chosen by his Lord to bring humanity out of darkness into the light. And God wasn’t about leaving his chosen alone. He comforted him, Do not take it personally, it’s not you they hate. It’s the Message of Truth,  Righteousness and Piety, that’s what they can’t stomach. So hang in there, things shall change for the better. And Truth shall overcome falsehood, to this end Allah says in the Holy Quran (what means),

“Their intention is to extinguish Allah’s Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But Allah will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it).” (Holy Qur’an, Chapter #61, Verse #8)

“It is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, that he may proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it).” (Chapter #61, Verse #9)

For twenty three years while God’s Last Word to man was revealed for the benefit of humanity, Muhammad and his companions struggled against all odds, sacrificing life and property, and were so terrorized, persecuted, and maligned by their own people that they

had to migrate three times just to stay alive (and keep alive God’s message for humanity).

Like all the prophets before him, Sacrifice and non-stop Struggle in the cause of God were things that came with the package of being a servant of God. The good news is:  Muhammad was not the first prophet that fell under the biting sword of stupid Mockery and blind Malice. Prophets before him were mocked and persecuted, and some even killed. Isa, son of Mariam (aka Jesus) peace be upon him, had himself a narrow escape; had Allah not rescued him the Jews could have executed him there and then. All praise is to Allah, Isa son of Mariam is alive and will come back towards the end of times to set the record straight, once and for all.

The following verse from the Holy Qur’an is proof of just how tried the believers of all times were, and still are: “Or think you that you will enter paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!  (Qur’an: Chapter #2, Verse #214).

God also said: “Ye shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions and in your personal selves; and ye shall certainly Hear much that will grieve you, from those who received the Book before you and from those who worship many gods. But if ye persevere patiently, and guard against evil,-then that will be a determining factor in all affairs. (the Holy Qur’an: Chapter #3, Verse #186)

Muhammad the Man:

His name was Muhammad Bin Abdullah Bin AbdulMutalib. He was born in the city of Mecca in the year 571. Muhammad’s father, Abdullah, passed away before his son was born and his mother Amina when just at the age of six. Henceforth, he was taken care of by his grandfather who also passed away when the little boy Mohammad was a mere child of eight. Thereafter, his paternal uncle Abu Talib took over the burden of raising his nephew. From a very young age Muhammad exhibited a quiet, calm, thoughtful character, never for a moment joining in the merriments and the filth of Idol-worship. Very much like his ancestor, Abraham before him, he instinctively turned away from this senseless occupation.  Mohammed was humble, honest and generous, had a soft spot for his follow man, loved small children and was a most perfect human being so much so that his community admired and appreciated his exceptional qualities. He came to be known by the Title: Al Amin, meaning: The Trustworthy, The Truthful. That was Muhammad long before he became a Prophet. Those who later came to accept his message, like the noble Khadija who knew him intimately, the gentle Abu Bakr, the lion hearted Umar, the brave Hamza,  Othman Bin Affan, the innocent child Ali, the former slave who knew him only too well, Zaid, and the scores of sincere modest followers who flocked to his side, in the face of sure death and tribulation.

Al Amin As Siddiq, they called him. At the age of twenty five Muhammad married a noble woman from the society. She was forty years old, a clever business woman of high standing. He had traded for her and she was so taken in with him by virtue of his honesty, integrity and fine personality that she proposed to him citing his good qualities as a most decent human being. And knowing Khadija’s purity, great reputation and high status in terms of goodness and morality Muhammad accepted the offer. Theirs was a blissful marriage and they had together six children. Two boys who died in early and four daughters.

To know more about Muhammad the Messenger I invite you all to this wonderful internet resource: http://www.islamonline.net/English/In_Depth/mohamed/1424/index.shtml

I urge you all to ponder the facts that are on the table and ask you personally to seek God’s help to make you understand the finer points of life.

I also invite all garbage peddlers, unthinking recyclers and their unsuspecting victims, authors of suspect works, and co-authors in the defamation act of a most decent character, a heartfelt poem which is somewhat a humble summation of what this Mighty Messenger of God really means to multitudes of believers who happen to be one fifth of the world’s population.

Needless to say, we live in a society that's fast becoming a single village, and it's most appropriate for all thinking humans to respect each other for the sake of peaceful and brotherly co-existence in our world. It’s God’s wisdom that we all share one world, let’s not drive ourselves to perdition.

Muhammad is not here with us in person today, but he is here with us through the message he so faithfully handed down to us. Having fulfilled his obligations, He is right now with His Lord and his life is one of Felicity and Peace, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon his holy person, his holy family and blessed companions.

Backbiting and slandering are pitiable traits that reflect on the doer’s lowly nature. I pray to Allah to save humanity from the wiles of Satan. He was arrogant and a liar and his mission is to destroy all that is good and holy in man. But he won’t succeed unless we let him.

Thank you all for lending me your hearts and minds,

And I say to the multitudes of Muslims who love Muhammad with all their hearts and minds to pray for patience and follow Allah's injunctions,

"Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel (evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate!
(Holy Qur'an: Chapter #41, Verse #34)

Oh, poor stupid, ignorant me!I'm a Jew, and until your people can let my people live in peace, then I ask what kind of "messenger of God" do you follow that allows killing of innocent people? So far as I'm concerned, if you don't like the way a country treats you and your kind, don't let the door slap you on the ass on your way out.

Dear Safi Abdi

I thank you a beautiful and enlightening letter and I just want to share with all some thoughts on these unfortunate events, since it concern me. I think it goning to be quite long though, another letter perhaps….

First I just want to assure you something you probably know, that the people in my country, Norway that is, in general is not supportive of the publications made by these two newspapers, least of all the Norwegian one that chose to publish these cartoons four months after the Danish one, fully aware of the reactions it would cause and with a totally different and more cruel agenda. We find them unwise and unnecessary, dough I can’t deny that that doesn’t count for all of us, unfortunately a growing number of my kinsmen start to loose patience, partly due to the extraordinary reactions from angry Muslims all around the Islamic world.

Up in till now, Norwegians have in public been kind of friendly towards Islam, though with an inch of scepticism, which is only natural since we don’t know much about it’s ways and customs, or it’s prophet and agendas. But to us the Muslim reactions seem quite odd and out of proportion. I’m sorry if that sounded a bit arrogant, but seriously it’s completely unfamiliar to us. We haven’t had so strong reactions to blasphemy in decades. Perhaps that’s why some Muslims recent us so much. But why can’t they just feel sorry for our ungodliness, instead of threatening to blow us all up? Why can’t they tend to their own salvation?

This was just general questions not inclined towards you, since you clearly rise above such hatred and it’s good to know that some people are strong enough to carry the anger and sorrow in their own heart without the need to hurt back. That’s what religion are supposed to do for people so that we can live in peace.

But you ask what kind of people would do such a disrespectful act, and I might possibly say something about that.
I can’t say much about the motives of the Danish newspaper, since don’t read it and haven’t seen the cartoons myself, though I recon they depict him as a violent and morally decayed person. I think perhaps Jyllandsposten, as it is called, wanted to summarize all the misachievments made by extremist in the name of Allah to a Danish audience using a caricature of Mohammad as a reference, which of course was tasteless. I don’t think they deliberately wanted to hurt people, just shock. I think their apologies proves this.

As for the Norwegian newspaper there’s another story. That doesn’t mean we are meaner than the Danes it just means that the Norwegian paper called “magasinet” is a very small newspaper, with a very marginal readers core, consistent of curtain types of Christian people. These “Christians” are actually, believe it or not one of those who most often blow the whistle about moral decay in society. Who most often complain about blasphemy, and yet they present these cartoons for they’re own amusement, so that they can make fun of what, in their minds, is the evil religion called Islam. Quite double wouldn’t you say?

They often come with nagative and often hateful statements about Islam, and they strongly believe that all muslims are evil, capable and ready to use violence, or want to take away our freedoms as soon as they grow strong enough. Since these kind of unkind generalizations aren’t being well thought of these days in Norway, they haven’t got much audience, and speak mostly amoung themselves. They have no respect what so ever towards your prophet, and read books which claim to prove that he is a bloodthirsty monster and a childmalistant, and that your entire religion is founded on blood. I have not read any of these book, nor have an interest of it. Most Norwegians have also never read these and wont base their sceptesism towards islam on them.

Of course these are just my thoughs, I have no proof of what I say, it’s only my analysis of these completely different newspapers agendas through observation, but I find them very probable. To me it’s obvious that Magasinet wanted more than just provoke. They deliberately wanted to spit on Islam. So now you know that, and I understand completely why Muslims was deeply offended and perhaps hurt by this. And I appreciate all Muslims who do not immediately want to blow my people up because of it, because I for one had nothing to do with it and I refuse to be hold responsible.
You also mentioned something about the possibility of drawing cartoons back, but reasoned that you then would discredit your own God and prophet. That might be true, but even if it weren’t, would you have done it? Would it have made the situasjon any better? Does it help that Palestinians burn danish and Norwegian flags in the streets, to throw out all Scandinavian aid workers from Gaza? What will now happen to the, until now, quite solid support for their cause amongst Scandinavians? What will happen when a bomb goes off in Oslo, my home? It shure won’t make the situasjon better.

My people didn’t ask for this. We don’t want confrontation. We might from the distant seem morally decayed because our freedom of speech let some people say or show outrageous things. But we are good people mostly. Besides it doesn’t matter what others do, they will perhaps anyway stand before the ultimate judge, it’s what you do yourself that is important. Fighting evil with evil never works.
These are wishes by corrupted people, they want war. They are so convinced that they have God/Allah (the same) on their side that they hunger for the ultimate epic battle between good and evil. I don’t think they will shy anything. It’s advisable not to let them get to us. Laugh at them perhaps…

I think I will join your prayer for patience, it’s exactly what we needs. It’s impossible to weigh up the scales. Whats been done have been done and the only way foreward from here is to be overbearing with other peoples misdeads.

Dear OneLight,
I think that you are missing the point here. You ask "Do you condone the actions of suicide bombers who take innocent lives "in the name of Allah"?". First of all i suggest that you get your facts straight and not just make assumptions about a whole faith based on the actions of a few mis-guided fools who abuse the term Islam to meet their own selfish needs. I think that what you should be asking is why anyone should have the galle to deface a religion followed by more than a billion people.

Dear OneLight,

You said: read the “facts” that are put forth before you…..

I really do not know what you mean by “facts” but yes I do agree with you that this world was created by Allah(the-God)for all. That’s my belief also, so there, we do have something in common.

As for your mention that Muslims do not own the Truth…that too is correct. In my view no single human being owns the Truth. Truth is from Allah. We humans just can’t own it, it isn’t our property, but we can benefit from Truth, just as we will lose if we give in to Falsehood. Now, for your info. Truth is out there for everyone, Truth is not kept in the dark, and it so happens that all the believers that this planet had produced had always accepted that Truth, which is that there is a Creator Lord and that we being His creatures are subject to this Creator. We are His subjects, servants, bondsmen, creatures, slaves (pick any name you feel comfortable with). But accept this Truth you must. But as you already said, you seem to be accepting of the fact that this world was created by Allah (the-God)for all of us.

Just before I began this respons, I made a quick visit to your bio, and there I learned a few facts about your likings and names of people you admire. Now, some simple questions come to mind, and I hope you'll take the time to ponder (honestly and with an open mind) these questions:

1. Has the author ever met these individuals in person and was then able to evaluate their characters personally?
2.Had he ever lived with them in the same house that he knew them like the back of his hand?
3.Had they ever been his bosom friends or childhood buddies that he knew at least quite a bit about them?
4.Were any of them his close relatives?

And if none of the above and that the author got his info. from second or third sources
5.How much do his sources know this author’s favorites?
6.From what kind of sources did the author get his information?
7.What kind of people did he talk to?
8.Did he get his information from sources that were friendly to these individuals or sources that were hostile to them?
9.Sources that were truthful or sources that won’t mind lying? 10.Sources that hated these individuals so much so that they wanted these individuals dead?

Similarly, if I may be allowed to ask some more honest questions:
11. Did the author ever meet Muhammad in person?
12. Did he ever catch Muhammad in the acts that the author accuses of the accused?
13. And if not, how and from what sources did the author gather his "facts" on Muhammad?
14.Were his informants friends and buddies of Muhammad?
15.Or were they people who hated Muhammad and what he stood for so much so that they would rather have him dead and gone?

Strange as it may seem, these same questions have already put me at ease and I am now more inclined to move on to your next query which was if I condone suicide bombing. The answer is a “no” I don’t condone suicide bombing. As a reviewer had already pointed out “killing oneself is a great sin in Islam. ”And no Muslim who knows he will one day meet his Lord and answer for his actions would rush to it. I wont dwell on this, appreciate if you could read the reviewer yaseen Arne’s review. I hope that answered your questions. If and when you have the time and inclination I suggest that you read 2 articles on Muslims Women’s Rights in Islam that are posted here on AD under that name. I also recommend that you visit the following websites: www.beconvinced.com

1. Only a few hundred people got killed in all the battles and campaigns during the lifetime of Muhammad Peace be upon Him.

2. He gave rights to women in seventh century which were denied to them even by the "enlightened" west till nineteenth century.

3. When it was time to assign the honourable duty of making prayer calls it was assigned to Bilal, a black slave. When Makkah was conquered (without bloodshed ofcourse) Bilal was asked to climb up the rooftop of Ka'aba to make prayer call. A black slave on top of the Ka'aba heralding the new era while the listeners were the nobles and masters. Such was the ways of Muhammad. No racial or class difference. A right for which Nelson Mandela remained behind bars for 25 years, even during these modern times. Or Martin Luthar King laid his life for the same right in the very country which is now the self-appointed champion of democracy and which has now found a new agenda to work; Polluting the faith.

4. Muhammad Peace be upon Him was the first secular leader the world ever saw, who made treaties even with religious groups including jews and Christians.

5. Soon before he died he asked his wife to give out the only left out 11 dinars in chairity. His wife had to borrow oil to lit their lamp, the night following his demise.

The aforementioned facts are not propaganda. It is not the way of people of Book. These are taken from following books: I am suggesting these to read instead of getting swept off by the "Faith Pollution" campaign:

The actions of certain desperate individuals who bear witnessed to a small number of injustices, or suffered through a great one, does not a religion make.

I'm not only Norwegian, but I’m Muslim as well. I do not appreciate what those Scandinavians did nor do I find it amusing. Not only because I’m a Muslim, but because of the negative light it sheds on all the other self-respecting Norwegians.

Using Joseph’s generalization it could be said that all Norwegians are insensitive of other cultures. That is why I’m against this. It is because I’m afraid of one track minded people like Joseph who will regard this doodle as the opinion of every single living Norwegian from the beginning of time to the end of it.

Now Joseph, you asked Safi this question, “Do you condone the actions of suicide bombers who take innocent lives ‘in the name of Allah’?”
Now I would like to answer that question for it is a rather simple one. No, no I do not. Why? Because in Islam several things are clear
• Suicide is forbidden. "O ye who believe!.. [do not] kill yourselves, for truly Allah has been to you Most Merciful. If any do that in rancour and injustice, soon shall We cast him into the Fire..." (Qur'an 4:29-30).
• The taking of life is allowed only by way of justice (i.e. the death penalty for murder), but even then, forgiveness is better. "Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause..." (17:33).
• In pre-Islamic Arabia, retaliation and mass murder was commonplace. If someone was killed, the victim's tribe would retaliate against the murderer's entire tribe. This practice was directly forbidden in the Qur'an (2:178-179). Following this statement of law, the Qur'an says, "After this, whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave chastisement" (2:178). No matter what wrong we perceive as being done against us, we may not lash out against an entire population of people.
• The Qur'an admonishes those who oppress others and transgress beyond the bounds of what is right and just. "The blame is only against those who oppress men with wrongdoing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice. For such there will be a chastisement grievous (in the Hereafter)" (42:42).
• Harming innocent bystanders, even in times of war, was forbidden by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This includes women, children, noncombatant bystanders, and even trees and crops. Nothing is to be harmed unless the person or thing is actively engaged in an assault against Muslims.

We are in a time of war. I never fought in a war or let alone been to one, but I do know that it brings out the worst in people. Imagine a man who had his house and car destroyed. His wife raped, his relatives and children killed. Now this man might have been the gentlest of people the day prior to this horrific event. However, now he becomes desperate and starts to not think clearly. Now imagine a broken person like that in the hands of a group of terrorists.

He becomes a puppet, controlled by these manipulative activists and he will do anything just so that he feels his family did not die in vain. He might even give up his life for a ‘just’ cause when he is in fact just a pawn amongst all the other thousands of desperate men and women who are brain washed by terrorist groups all over the world.

The predominant theme in the Qur'an is forgiveness and peace. Allah (God) is Merciful and Forgiving, and seeks that in His followers. Indeed, most people who spend time on a personal level with ordinary Muslims have found them to be peaceful, honest, hard-working, civic-minded people.
