I had a dear friend that recently passed away. She was so full of life and her bubbly personality would light up any room. When I first met her I never knew she was in remission from cancer. Then her cancer came back. She never went into details about her illness. She just started to get things in order. This time the battle was lost.
In her struggle she knew of God and Jesus but she was not in a relationship we as Christians establish when we first decide to commit our life to God and Jesus. A relationship with God and Jesus is a journey that never ends. It is through studying of the word, the Bible, praying, attending Sunday school and Church, and ministering to others that we learn about the awesome wonders of God himself.
In our discussions, I discovered that she had never been baptized. It bothered me tremendously and I would say Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and I believe as part of our faith that is part of accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Last year in the month of July she called and said, I have news that will make you and my sister very happy. She got baptized and start attending church when her strength allowed. I was very much relieved and elated. She passed away May 1, 2010.
Now is the time to establish a relationship with God and Jesus. We must live everday as if it was our last day. It is time to make a change and start living a life that is pleasing to God. If you are single with no children, single with children, married with children, introduce your children to the love of God and Jesus. God's plan for all of us is to love and depend on Him. He gave us the greatest gift, His Son Jesus. Through Jesus, He shed His blood for you and me so that we have a way of repenting for all our sins. This is the greatest gift we can have in life - God's grace and mercy through His Son Jesus.
