Judging President Obama
Recently, right-wing radicals have attempted to discredit President Obama for the way that he is handling the war in Afghanistan. Please consider the facts before you make your judgment.
During his presidential campaign, candidate Obama promised that, if elected, he would send two additional brigades to bolster America’s military efforts in Afghanistan. In March 2009 (just 2 months after taking office), President Obama ordered 21,000 additional troops to Afghanistan, which is actually more than he had promised. Percentage-wise, this was a bigger “surge” than the one the U.S. made in Iraq.
I commend President Obama for now insisting that the U.S. have a solid military mission with a winning strategy in Afghanistan before he commits the lives of more of our brave service men and women. In pursuit of that goal, President Obama has been conducting several meetings with America’s best military experts in order to determine what our next steps should be. I commend President Obama for supporting our courageous troops in this way. This is what Americans rightly expect and deserve. This is the kind of Commander in Chief that all Americans can be proud of!
Senator Lamar Alexander (Republican - Tenn.), said on MSNBC "I think President Obama is entitled to take sufficient time to decide what our long-term role ought to be in Afghanistan." adding "I want him to take the time to get it right."
Amen to that!
By contrast, when the previous top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David McKiernan, submitted a request for more troops, "The Decider" George W. Bush took 8 months to decide and then he decided ... to do Nothing!
Now be honest, if you were in the military, who would you want as your Commander in Chief?

JOE - WELL SAID.
I'm still trying to keep an open mind toward Obama - so far, so good.
Bush, on the other hand - was, and is - a LIAR - a FAILURE, a PLAY-BOY, who played by joy-riding planes in the A.F. Reserves, while being AWOL for actual duty - he FAILED every attempt at replicating his father's successes - with only one exception - they GOT THE RAT-BASTARD SADAM HUSSEIN - during his watch.
I also read the comments below - I think it is SAD that any patriotic American, especially a veteran, can not recognize and accept the FAILURES of his Party, that are DOCUMENTED!
Being passionate for a cause is certainly wonderful - but - when you are wrong -
ADMIT IT HONESTLY!
Peace - Tom.

| Very true, Joseph. It's easy to be an armchair warrior like G.W.Bush but when you are under gunfire, as I have been, you want a clear thinker. Sometimes, those who have not served, understand the horror. The widows, the orphans, the victims and the clear thinkers more then the armchair warriors. My father served in The Korea War and voted against G.W. Bush. He called him an Armchair warrior, because he was willing to send others to war but would not go himself. I respect President Obama, because of his willingness to think before sending our soldiers into further combat. A good leader understands, soldiers are human beings, who can die. |

Since you asked...When exactly did George W. Bush become Commander in Chief of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, again? Did Barrack Obama resign? Isn’t this the “right war“, the war Barrack said we must win? Isn’t Barrack the one that sent more troops over there? Didn’t he set the winning strategy back in March? Isn’t Barrack the one that just told our troops and the enemy, that he doesn’t have a plan anymore and he’ll get back to them when he gets around to it.? I’m pretty sure the enemy still has their plan. So this is pretty good news for them and good incentive to step up attacks on our troops.
Our troops are not left or right wingers working for the cause. These are American men and women fighting and dying for their country. They need a commander in chief, not a Celeb who is running for president again, As a veteran, I am pretty sure the troops would prefer a real commander in chief. So if the left wingers want someone to blame the deaths and embarrassments caused by the indecisiveness and weird priorities of their commander in chief… Why not Blame Harry Truman and his “The Buck Stops Here Sign.” instead. I’m sure someone in the white house can get it out of the trash for them.
P.S. Something new for me.. I never heard any of my buddies at the Legion…World War Two vets, Korean war vets, Viet vets. Grenada, Panama, Gulf wars or Afghan vets ever say that they were under “Gun” Fire… Army or Marines. Some said they were under fire, laid down suppressing fire, took fire, sniper fire , yelled fire in the tree line… and even friendly fire. . But none of them ever said they were under “Gun” fire. I guess there’s a first time for everything. |
