This is about connecting with Angels and how to experience these wonderful beings of love and light if you wish.

Connecting with Angels


Have you noticed how with angels people are one way or the other? My family and friends either gush or go quiet. It’s one thing or the other, it’s not often I come across someone who does not have a prior position. What’s this about?

Angels pop up in all major religions that I know of, and loads of artwork which was inspired by or paid for by religion. If I go to church, say at Christmas or Easter-time angels come along to talk to Mary about the huge shock she is to receive with news of her impending pregnancy, or pop in to talk to Mary and Joseph about things they need to know, what with being the parents of a formidable prophet. But there’s no sense of inclusion like angels are being invited in to the church or are playing an active part in the shared consciousness in present day-to-day life. I’m more likely to come away with the impression that they are an historical artefact that we don’t really talk about.

But if this is the case why are they popping up in modern spirituality where it’s not necessary to go to church, to belong to any religion, or to be parents of prophets to connect to angels? Have angels got something to say of relevance to us in our current lifetime or something about our world that we don’t see? I suppose the true test is to ask what angels are like. What’s the experience that they bring and do they have something to say?

Here’s a test if you will: find a quiet space and time. Switch off all phones - a time when we do this can be a blessing all by itself. Find somewhere comfortable to sit or lie. Close your eyes. Direct your body to relax. If you’re not sure how to do this the knowing and practice of this could be a treat just in itself.

Bring your awareness into yourself. It’s easiest to do this with your breath. Breathe in and be aware of the oxygen entering your lungs. Keep your awareness here, with your body. Direct that the back of your legs relax. Direct that your lower back is relaxed and that your shoulders and neck relax. Direct that your scalp relax so that every single hair follicle is refreshed.

When you are ready ask that your guardian angel move in closer so that you might know him or her. If this feels comfortable - and angels encourage you to trust your intuition and inner knowing - ask your angel to express their presence by embracing you in their wings. And rest a while and become aware of connecting. It’s important to let the experience you have be your experience, i.e. don’t rush to interpret it, or look to others to tell you what you are experiencing. Relax into it once you feel safe.

As you can imagine this is a good routine to do just before going to sleep. If it’s not time for you to drift into sleep you’ll want to bring yourself back into physical consciousness. So bring your attention to your breath and take a deeper breath. Tell yourself gently but firmly you are coming back into your physical space. Wiggle your fingers and toes and in your own time open your eyes. Have a drink of water. How did it feel? It can help to jot some notes down, in a diary or start an angel journal, because as we write we can recall and remember more.

If you sense a resistance to angels or wish to deepen your connection with angels it can be helpful to clear the way. To do this find a quiet space and time, close your eyes, and relax yourself. Next send roots down to the core of the earth to ground you and sustain you as a human being. Follow this by remembering the golden thread or column of light that connects you from the crown or top of your head to the angels of love and light, and to source and all that is.

Once you are grounded and connected ask Archangel Michael to put you in a blue bubble of protection. This is a safe space, and within this bubble the vibration around you changes. The air becomes calmer and sweeter. Make the intention to raise your vibration so that you match the vibration in the bubble around you.

Standing before you you see or sense a beautiful white angel who is bringing light to shine on a spot which is directly in front of you. Into this light bring all of the things, issues and blocks, which you sense may be coming between you and your connection with angels. Place all of these things in the space between you and the beautiful white angel. If you are curious to know more about what these things are, ask the angel to increase the light so that you may see and know these issues for what they are. In any event check to see if it serves you to release these issues and blocks, and if it feels right ask the angel of light to dissolve these issues for your highest good.

Check to see how you feel, and if you wish to connect further with this angel move forward and embrace him or her. Talk to the angel if you wish, or simply be in this wonderful energy. When you are ready prepare to depart. Give your thanks to the angel and make the conscious decision that you will come back into your physical body. Feel the effects of gravity, your bum on your seat or the weight of your body on the bed or floor. Then give your toes and fingers a wiggle and in your own time open your eyes and come back into your room or physical space. Record your experiences.

May the peace of the angels be with you.
