There’s still time to participate in the Operation USO Care Package Program for our deployed troops. This Holiday Season, the USO will be sending its one millionth care package out to them.
Since 2001, Operation USO Care Package has delivered a ‘touch of home’ and messages of support to hundreds of thousands of deployed members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Due to heightened security, individuals can no longer send letters and packages marked for delivery to ‘Any Service Member.’ But through Operation USO Care Package, you can sponsor a care package for a soldier for just $25, and send along with it a personal message of support and thanks.
These care packages include requested items such as global prepaid phone cards, sunscreen, disposable cameras, travel size toiletries, and a personal note of thanks for their service and sacrifice. Other donated items from manufacturers are included so that the maximum weight of each package is approximately 2 lbs.
Recognized and supported by the Department of Defense, Operation USO Care Package is a wonderful way to send a personal message of encouragement to our soldiers, and to let them know they haven't been forgotten.
The USO is chartered by Congress as a nonprofit charitable corporation and is not a part of the United States Government. The mission of the USO is to provide morale, welfare, and recreation-type services to uniformed military personnel.
The USO currently operates 121 centers around the world, including five mobile canteens, with 68 located in the continental United States, three in the Caribbean, and 45 overseas.
