Just In Time For Veterans Day

Just in time for Veterans Day on November 11th, the VFW has unveiled a new online contest to honor veterans.

It’s easy for anyone to spout off about ‘service to country,’ but each and every one of our valiant veterans have actually done it.  So I think a contest to honor them is a wonderful idea.

And all members of the public are invited to participate by creating a video honoring any U.S. military veteran.

"Millions of Americans have a friend, family member, or loved one who is a veteran," said George Lisicki, VFW national commander. "With the 'Honor a Veteran' contest, they can now share that respect and love with the world. Regardless of a person's stance on politics or the war, our veterans deserve to be honored for their sacrifice and bravery. This contest gives everyone the chance to do just that."

The deadline for contest entries is Nov. 3, 2007. Winners will be announced on Veterans Day. Videos will be judged on creativity, originality, and how well they honor our nation's veterans.

For more information, or to enter the contest, please visit the website listed below:

Their Medals were Earned, Expressions of Valor,
They did what was Needed, they did not Cower.
Remember our Sons and Daughters, give us the Power,
To Honor their Presence, Lord, Hour after Hour!

Well done, Ed, Veterans should be honored EVERY day of the year, not just on certain days when "convenient." I concur with Georg, below.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I hope they get a billion entries!!!!! LOL

I dearly hope that, honoring the Veterans will be a place for the outcast ones from Nam, which, incredible as it seems are considered a second class citizen not worth to have help, like their brothers and sisters of Katrina fame.
Show America in Veterans day not the shining side of the medal, but the unpolished one that they don't want us to see, because they are Veterans too, in rages but Veterans.
