“Even the Smallest Feline,
Is a Masterpiece.”

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and many other animal welfare organizations across the United States celebrate this month of June as: Adopt-A-Cat Month.
Each and every spring during ‘kitten season,’ thousands of newborn kittens now join the millions of homeless cats already in animal shelters across the country. This means that your local shelter has tons of cute, cuddly newborn kittens right now, in addition to all of the older cats and everything in between. And shelter staff are eager and ready right now to help you adopt your very first feline — or to bring home a friend for another beloved pet.
June is an excellent month for Adopt-A-Cat Month, since this year's newborn kittens are already at an adoptable age, and the already overcrowded animal shelters all across the nation have many older cats that still need good homes in order to make room for the never-ending strays and homeless older felines now very sadly losing their homes in our abysmal economy.
“Spring and summer are the times of year when animal shelters are all overflowing with cats of all ages, sizes, and colors,” says Edwin Sayres, President and CEO of the ASPCA.
“We want to help raise awareness of this in order to bring home the reality that thousands of cats need safe and loving new homes, right now. By adopting a feline friend, not only are you giving a shelter cat a second chance at life, but you will also have a lifelong companion who will bring many years of love and devotion to your family.”
The feline in the picture above is our precious little Flower – I brought her home from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Back then, she was an extremely sad, terrified, and homeless ‘left behind.’ Today, she’s a very happy cat, and a true joy to have around our home. She also now welcomes and ‘mothers’ every new cat that we now bring into our household.
All of our many felines were adopted from animal shelters, or were taken in from the mean city streets, and they all truly appreciate the kindness and the affection now being shown to them.
Please find it in your heart to visit your local animal shelter this month – Adopt-A-Cat Month -and give at least one deserving feline – a second chance - and a brand new lease on life.
“I love cats because I love my home,
And little by little, they become its visible soul.”
