My very smart Dr. Makhlouf has added methotrexate to the mix. I've been on it two weeks, so far, with none of the adverse effects. My ankles are smaller than they've been in 2 years, and my red, raised rash is shrinking.
The doc feels my illness is more like psoriatic arthritis at this time. I'm on plaquenil and sulfasalazine besides the methotrexate.
Let me add a caveat to one of my earlier articles: don't use herbs unless your physician okays it. I tried a variety which really helped my feelings, but my liver enzymes went way up. Be careful!
Am I still working? Yes. Some days are harder than others. Maybe you've had this experience--the pain sneaks up on me. I'll put on a few pounds, lay around a lot, and suddenly realize. I've become less active because of the pain. I'm eating more comfort foods, reading books, going to bed early to ignore the pain.
Once I go to the doc, try something new, become active again, the weight comes off. We're really going to watch the liver counts. I guess the meth can do bad things.
