A discussion of the whys and wherefores of writing fiction.

At long last my first novel, Larsson's Legend, has been released, and although it's a very exciting time, I am now faced with the formidable task of marketing my book

What can I say? How can I convince prospective readers that my book is worth reading? After all, it's only fiction. Not a self help book full of valuable information. Not a spiritual book to help build character. It's not a cook book, nor a health manual, nor a psychological treatise to lift self esteem -- it's just a good story. Which brings me to the reason for my book having been written in the first place: to entertain, (Well, I was entertained when I wrote it!)

And isn't that what we're all looking for? Why do we watch T.V., or go to a movie, or a concert? Is it not to be entertained? A novel is for entertainment, and when we pronounce a title as "a good book" it's because we feel we've been thoroughly entertained, and that the time we invested in reading this "good book" was well worth while.

So, here you are, my fellow authors and readers.  Allow me to commend to you Larsson's Legend: pronounced a good book by friends and family, and patiently awaiting the judgement of a discerning readership.
