Will 2012 be the end of the World?

By Cesar

2012 is fast approaching us, and for many years there has been lots of talk, plenty of books and TV programmes and even films depicting what this special year could involve. So what exactly is it that intrigues us about the possibility of the end of the world? What I mean to say, it’s not particularly an optimistic subject to talk about.

In my opinion what interests us the most is wondering how on earth could prophets from hundreds or thousands of years ago predict what would happen after they are long in the grave. Some people says that its all a load of nonsense, others are stocking up on food and heading to the mountains, but either way people always have an opinion about it.

I have to admit however, that despite hearing about Nostradamus all through my life it’s only really recently that I have become more interested. I bought a copy of his book and I was honestly surprised at what I read. Previously my impression was that he was a weird astrologist from the dark ages, but I was so wrong. He was actually a devout Catholic, and a very strong believer in God.

Leaving apart the God stuff, I was interested to find out what exactly a prophet is and if there were if any similarities between them. So far this is what I have found out, prophets have always appeared throughout history at times of great trouble, they have always had a message to tell people, they have always had supernatural powers (telling the future etc) but more fascinatingly I believe they all were torn between two worlds. No I don't mean this world and the next, for Nostradamus it was of course science versus visions, for Moses it was the Egyptians versus the Jews, for Isaiah it was royalty and politics versus religious teachings and the list goes on.

I myself have experience of two worlds as such, Christianity and non-Christianity, which is important when I come to answer the next question that most people ask about prophets. What is the difference between a prophet and a psychic? I must admit there are similarities between the two; both can tell the future whether it is good or bad. But anyone who may have been around a psychic knows that they commune with spirits to get information, and if you believe in spirits then you can see easily how they get their information, as spirits can travel anywhere and may have been around for many years. I thought prophets used the same method until I understood more about Nostradamus that is, if you ever read his book you will see that he is a very humble man that only believes what he writes has been from Divine influences, which is different to psychics.

But telling the future is a load of rubbish isn't it? When I was eight, I had these re-occurring dreams about a bridge and something floating in the water of a canal. Then in my mid-twenties I had a massive turn of events in my life, but I saved someone from the water of a canal near a bridge, because of that dream. Now I know that this story may not convince you, but for me, from that point onwards I knew it was possible to see the future.

But the dream scared me, so I pushed myself for a couple of years in an attempt to disprove myself. I walked graveyards with friends at night, I told people their future. But what do you do when all the stuff comes true , who do you go to for learning? So I walked away from it, the whole thing scared me too much. But it begs another question, how did Nostradamus learn to be a prophet? It’s not like he had a D.I.Y. manual to show him the way.

For anyone who has seen the 1994 Biography Film Nostradamus, they could tell you how Nostradamus had a huge resource of information and that he burned it all. But surely if there was important information in those books about how to be a prophet, he would not have destroyed them?

Ok so think for a second, imagine you are a prophet and you are having weird visions, what convinces you that you are not crazy? Wouldn't a message from the past help? Surely when Nostradamus wrote about this century, he obviously knew it would be a time of trouble, World Wars and all the rest of it. So he would have known that there was a strong possibility that a prophet would appear, but how would he pass on helpful information to the right person if he knew others would try to steal it?

But that doesn't answer how Nostradamus would get information to someone in our time, to at least convince them they were not crazy. The answers are right there in his book, in his quatrains and in his letters. Even the Film identified that one letter may not have been intended for his son but for the prophet who would come many years later.

So it is 2012 next year, the year that the galactic alignment happens, the year that a lot of people believe will be the end of the world. But I tell you now; it will not be the end of the world. Even Nostradamus predictions go well beyond 2012. However I do believe that next year will be a dramatic year, maybe what you might call the start of the end. As for me, now that I have realised I am not a psychic, I am just a humble man that has been given a message to give to you.
