My name is Lucie Elizabeth Ann Wesson. I am 56 years old and was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland. I have traveled to Brazil, Rhodesia, and South Africa and I have lived in Alabama, Maryland, Tennessee, and Virginia.
A day ago I wrote about On-Line writing Communities and I thought I would follow it up with some of the on-line writing communities that people should stay away from because the fact is you have to pay a membership fee or pay for your story, poem, chapter, or whatever to show up on their website.
First of all, if you have a bad attitude when you sign up for one of these on-line communities I suggest you stay away from signing up all together. Don't go to the on-line writing community bragging that you self published a novel. People don't want to hear it.
Second, be prepared for a lot of destructive criticism and no inspiration, no constructive criticism. There are a lot of grammar Nazis and Trolls out there. These on-line writing communities can be brutal and despite the fact that you have paid a membership fee they don't have to refund your monthly membership fee.
These are the two on-line writing communities I recommend that you stay away from
http://thenextgreatwriter.com - why? Because you must either earn credits to post your story or buy them to post your story.
http://fanstory.com - you must buy a monthly membership of $8.95 each month and set up a http://paypal.com account. You may only post three stories a day._
What on-line writing communities offer the best value- Actually there are three-
1. http://authorsden.com - I believe did have a one time fee but now it has different levels of membership that include a free one.
2. http://writers-network.com - An annual fee of $33.00
3. http://storywrite.com- A Three month gold membership is $45.00 or a silver membership of $30.00 every three months.
The rest of these On-line communities are free.
