Neon colors and punk hair dos go hand in hand. The most definitive method of getting noticed is to make a loud bang using your hair.

Neon colors and punk hair dos go hand in hand.  The most definitive method of getting noticed is to make a loud bang using your hair.  And an outrageous and wild punk hair do is certainly a loud bang.

However, before jumping in and taking the plunge with a punk hairdo, there are some relative elements that you should comprehend regarding these quirky styles.

Types of Punk Hair Styles
A punk hair do is easily identifiable.  This is due to the highly visible elements of the design, that include vivid colors, bold cuts, and funky contemporary styles.

However, take note; not every "completely different" haircut can be considered punk.  Thus if you have got your heart and mind determined to pull off the punk style, you need to comprehend how all of these elements are connected, and how the mix of them creates the vibrant, eclectic punk style that you desire.

The Electric Color
The most common elements to punk style are electric colors.  The vast majority of punk hairstyles mix small to medium amounts of colors or color combinations.  In addition, take note that the most common decisions relating to colors are un-natural ones like orange, pink, purple, blue, and green.  Neon shades of color are fashionable as well.

As it pertains to color application, it can be applied to the entire head, or just sections like highlights on the tips, striped hair, or colored bangs.  Do not forget that a loud color should be used.  Platinum blonde is a frequent choice because of its high contrast to most natural hair colors.

The Bold Drastic Cut
The cut of the hair will furthermore be a deciding issue for whether or not a hair do is recognized as punk.  In the end, any version of cut that's unique or not common, like a mohawk, would be classified as punk.

Long on the top, but bald on the sides is without a doubt not your standard style. Shaved patterns that are cut into the hair clearly indicate a punk look, and often times non-conforming symbols can be shaved into the hair as well.

Asymmetrical, or uneven cuts where the hair is long on one side, however short on the opposite are definate punky hair cuts.

The Funky Style
In the end, it's the overall look that distinguishes a punk hairstyle.  Take the mohawk for example.  Whether it's a bright neon color, or a symbol shaved in the the hair, it's a punk hair style either way.  How about long on top, and shaved sides?  Or a spikey top and bald sides?  It does not matter, still punk.

Different punky styles that are consistently outrageous and distinctive are braids, parts, and loops.  And as if the hair style wasn't enough, there are accessories that may also be used to guarantee that punk appearance.

So what do you think?  Have you got what it takes to "rock the punk"?  Remember, your punk hair style will come as a result of  your ability to be be unique and creative, combined with a tendency to think outside the box.  And then apply that to your hair style.  Now there's only one question left; are you prepared to go punk??
