I wrote this article really because I have been going through a lot lately. So to remind myself to stay focused, and to get the focus off of myself, I thought I would share this. Sometimes it helps to not be so self centered, and to remember that others are in pain to. Thank you and I hope whoever reads this is blessed.
Seven is a blessed number. I don't mean your lucky number seven that can help you win the slot machine jackpot. I mean the real number seven.
The number seven that represents rest, and completion. "By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work." Genesis 2:2
There are miracles that happen with the number seven. For instance the walls of Jericho. The Lord gave Joshua instructions. "And seven Priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him." NKJV Business Woman's Bible. Joshua 6:4-5
Everything the Lord said would happen, happened on the seventh day. The walls fell, the city became Joshua's and his people. Completion, which leads me to my seven steps. This is just a little guide for myself as well as others, to encourage those who are looking to a New Day. Seven steps that will represent rest, victory, and completion to those who are looking to a new day in life.
Step 1- The first step to a new day, is to rejoice in the day you have. For each day that you're waking up, remember there is someone who didn't wake up. If you woke up this morning, that is because there is a Divine Destiny and purpose for you to fulfill.
Step 2- Forgive and be forgiven. Most of us don't have a problem forgiving others, but it can be difficult to accept that we have been forgiven. In order to move forward, we have to understand that we may have a past, but it only builds character to who we have become.
Step 3- Accept who you are today and move forward. You may still be a little rough around the edges. Like a piece of coal, God sees beyond the work in progress, and he sees the diamond that is to come forth. Others may not understand what God is doing in your life, even your family, but trust in him.
Step 4- This may be the hardest step to take of all. Being healed and allowing yourself to go through this process. Giving all of your pain to the Lord, confessing everything even from childhood. It's really a great therapeutic experience. Especially, if you're like me with no income. I can pour out all of my pain to someone who really cares, and it's for free, and it's confidential. I don't need a therapist.
Step 5- Set goals for yourself. Whether big or small. Whatever comes to your heart, write your God Given Goals. Have faith, but not in yourself, being the humans that we are, we may fall short. Rather have faith in God that he will see you through to the achievement of the goals he has set for you. He won't let you down. He will give you the supernatural strength to carry on when it seems all else is failing.
Step 6- Live Rich! Be rich in wisdom, honor and integrity. You may not have all the fancy things that others may have. Sometimes it can be discouraging. For myself, I want so much more for my son, and it seems like I'll never get there. However, the Lord has really been dealing with me on this step. I'm not like anyone else. I am his child, his daughter, and I am just as rich with no physical possessions, as the next person with all the material possessions in the world. Be rich in Love. Love is God, so be rich in him.
Step 7- The step of Completion, Rest, and Victory. Love others. There are so many people in this world going through unimaginable pain. Imagine walking down the street and seeing your mom or dad getting blown up from a bomb before your eyes. Or your child is sick dying in the hospital, and all of your money is going on medical bills that insurances don't cover. My point is there is so much hurt in this world, which is why I'm writing this. To get the focus off of myself and really think of uplifting someone else. It brings healing to me, because I am not the only one who is suffering.
Pray for others. From work, from your gym, you never know how a smile at someone at work can save their life. Someone may have been contemplating suicide, but your smile and a good morning made them feel like maybe life isn't so bad. I know it sounds funny but it is the truth. You just don't know how God is using your very presence to be a healing to others around you. Share a smile, be an ear to listen. Love one another.
"And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins". 1Peter 4:8
God bless you and remember Gods' number seven. Have Rest in all of your weariness, Completion of Love in your Heart and Spirit, and Have Victory over all of your troubles.
