I'm so sorry when those with closed minds, find that they can find no peace within, and that they will never get it, unless they can stop their FEAR and open their minds to the truth!

People were given free-will, but some use it for the wrong reasons. Out of fear for what might happen to them, they hang on to beliefs while the world changes around them and think Satan is in everyone who does not openly glorify God. Well, don't be scared, God would not be so egotistical as to want to have his praises sung. He would want people to care about each other, much more than to argue over Him. He has given us a life to lead and we should get on with it, not keep looking backwards.
If, like me, they love Jesus and know there is a God, but can still understand other people being confused, then, if we can, we should help, not make these, basically good people feel guilty. God is within us, all of us. But, sometimes the evil suppresses the good, due to unfornunate circumstances, which make the person go astray. If they can't get back on the right path, they are lost. VERY LOST.
I now realise that I am a Religious Humanist. Do you recognize your thoughts amongst the ones written below? I have copied these writings from and pasted them from the Humanist site. I have always believed what you can read below;
------------------------------------------------
Humanism teaches us that it is immoral to wait for God to act for us. We must act to stop the wars and the crimes and the brutality of this and future ages. We have powers of a remarkable kind. We have a high degree of freedom in choosing what we will do. Humanism tells us that whatever our philosophy of the universe may be, ultimately the responsibility for the kind of world in which we live rests with us.
As Kurt Vonnegut succinctly described: being a Humanist means trying to behave decently without expectation of rewards or punishment after you are dead.
Once we leave the areas of confusion, it is possible to explain, in straightforward terms, exactly what the modern Humanist philosophy is about. It is easy to summarize the basic ideas held in common by both Religious and Secular Humanists. These ideas are as follows:
Humanism is one of those philosophies for people who think for themselves. There is no area of thought that a Humanist is afraid to challenge and explore.

Great stuff! I had a few comments to make. First, I disagree with the premise that God isn't interested with hearing His praises sung. Who wouldn't enjoy hearing appreciation from his or her children for the wonderful things they provide as parents. We are created in His image. There is no reason to think He isn't a Father who would love His children to appreciate Him as well. He inhabits the praise of His children.
Secondly, humanism may teach that it is immoral to wait on God to do the right thing, but God taught that first. He placed a conscience within each of us, driving us to do good towards others. In fact, when it became clear humans were having trouble understanding just what was right and what was wrong, He gave us the commandments to instruct us.
Last of all, freedom of thought, will, and action is a basic premise of spirituality. Human nature is to take from others, dominate others. It is our spirituality that leads us to a deeper understanding of others. We are instructed to love our neighbor.
We have freedom of will, even in the basic of all choices in life. And it was given to us by God, not a philosophy. Philosophy is good as a structure for explaining our values, but philosophies can't instill in us those values. |
