My dream of becoming a published writer is a reality this year. My first book of poetry and personal essays is available at Novel Ideas and Haines and Essex. The Internet gives me the chance to publish articles in on-line magazines. I’ve written the first draft of my first novel and my name is on the winners list for National Novel Writing Month. My writing friends tell me it shows promise and I have an editor just itching to get her hands on it. A printed anthology will print one of my poems; it is a privilege to be in the same book as noted poetess Maya Angelou. Sisters In The Lord magazine issues twice monthly on the Internet and features a column based on my husband’s Grandma Cox and her parsonage family.
The Herald and Review and Bob Fallstrom has graciously used several of my articles in the Prairie Talk column featured in Tuesday’s newspaper.
My first article in a print magazine will be out in May. Penwomanship is a magazine for women that is published both on-line monthly and printed quarterly.
I’ve taken my future into my own hands. I decided to dare to take risks, try new experiences. I have traveled to Europe, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and went on my first train ride. I’ve eaten raw fish (ick), and rode an electronic bull,
I feel I have gone a long way in reaching for my dream. I can’t wait to see what this year will bring!
